Chapter 83: Great Skeleton Priest

While unsure why the great skeleton priest suddenly lost its flight capability, Drako Yau knew it was a great opportunity for attacking. Not wasting a second, he immediately rushed at the boss.

‘Gah! This is absurd! How dare you sully this great priest’s noble body!’ The skeleton proclaimed as it swung its staff.

Ring of Rebounding Flames!

Drako Yau was ready to get the skeleton’s mum involved in his insults, but thankfully he wasn’t fighting alone right now.

A purple shadow flashed before his eyes—Lunging Bite, the demon wolf king’s powerful control skill!

Moments after getting knocked back by the Ring of Rebounding Flames, Hades was already back at it again by casting Shadowstrike, leaving behind Drako Yau who was envious of him; life would be a lot easier if he had a charging skill like his! Still, his legs galloped towards the great skeleton priest.

After the effect of Lunging Strike ended, the great skeleton priest resumed its crazy attacks once again. Its green flames were extremely potent, as reflected by Zephyrwolf’s attempt at blocking the green snake to protect Greenstone. Excluding the damage upon impact, just the eight seconds of fire damage had already robbed a third of Zephyrwolf’s Health, albeit quickly healed by Greenstone.

The great skeleton priest seemed to have made up its mind. It shrugged Hades and Drako Yau off with Fire Shields and Ring of Rebounding Flames while sending every single one of its attacks at Greenstone.

However, Greenstone was no run of the mill either; even Drako Yau fell in a trance watching his footwork. Such subtle yet ingenious footwork… Every step seemed so out of place on their own, but once they connected, everything was so natural, so perfect. It was a miraculous technique.

Even so, the great skeleton priest was also ramping up its attack speed, and Greenstone’s footwork was starting to come up a bit short. Drako Yau had no time to entertain unnecessary thoughts and began sending his own barrage of attacks.

Moon Gazer was a Level 15 epic weapon. As a high-end weapon, the damage it could dish out wasn’t low at all. Hades, the demon wolf king, and Soulsmith were all steadily dealing damage to the boss, while Zephyrwolf was now a meat shield that kept absorbing attacks for Greenstone. Greenstone would be dead by now without Zephyrwolf’s protection, and Zephyrwolf would be dead without Greenstone’s healing, creating some sort of equilibrium.

The great skeleton priest let out an angry roar, its staff trembling ever so slightly. Soulsmith focused his gaze and instantly fired off an arrow at the boss.

With a bang, the great skeleton priest was knocked five steps back, interrupting the skill it was casting. Drako Yau gave him a thumbs up and cheered, ‘Nice!’, before closing in on the boss.

The skeleton’s casting motion indicated that it was trying to use Ring of Rebounding flames. Hades could easily get close again by using Shadowstrike, but it was very time-consuming and troublesome for Drako Yau to run at the boss after getting knocked back every time.

They had been attacking the great skeleton priest for 20 minutes now.

The boss let out a hmph and said, ‘Not too bad.’ It then suddenly pulled a lot of distance away from the group.

Everyone tensed up at its change. When a boss suddenly made a different move, it meant its Health was down to a certain threshold.

Except for the first five minutes of wasted efforts, they had been entirely focused on attacking for a whole 15 minutes, and being in a state of heightened focus had built up tension in their heads. The great skeleton priest’s move gave them a tad bit of room for a breather.

But that didn’t last long.

The great skeleton priest murmured incomprehensible words, raising green flames from around its feet which illuminated its eerily white skull. It was a creepy sight to behold. A short while after, a torrent of flames gushed out in front of the skeleton.

A similarly white skeleton emerged from the flames, though as a stark contrast, it wore a dark set of heavy armour.

Skeleton king!

As to why a ‘king’ could be summoned by a mere priest, they didn’t have the leisure to care about such minor detail—they now had two bosses to deal with at the same time!

‘Graaa!’ The skeleton king roared to mark its presence, then charged at them like a storm.

Drako Yau stepped up to intercept it. ‘Leave the skeleton king to me, attack the priest!’

They were familiar rivals anyways, at least from Drako Yau’s point of view. He was no stranger of the skeleton king’s attacking patterns, though this was the first time he had battled it at full Health.

The rest of them sighed in relief as they continued to attack the great skeleton priest. If Drako Yau wasn’t there to take care of the skeleton king, their trip certainly would result in failure, for taking on two bosses was exponentially more difficult.

Drako Yau didn’t go all out on the skeleton king and held back his attacks. He was just there to keep it at bay while sneaking in a strike or two from time to time on the great skeleton priest.

The skeleton king was devastatingly powerful below 50 per cent Health, especially the tornado after it went berserk. Even Drako Yau wasn’t confident that he could evade it when he had to be wary of the great skeleton priest at the same time.

The deadlock went on for another 15 minutes. Despite yelling and roaring constantly, the great skeleton priest had not much up its sleeve to defend against Hades and the demon wolf king’s combined attacks. It had destructive spells that could deal crazy damage, but that didn’t change the fact that it had a magic-oriented class, making it weak at melee combat. Hades had also told Zephyrwolf to instruct the demon wolf king to pincer the great skeleton priest from the rear, so it could only knock one of them back when it used Ring of Rebounding Flames.

Although the shield of fire remained active, Soulsmith didn’t just stand there and shoot arrows like a turret; an outstanding archer had to stay on his feet and maintain mobility at all times. With Hades and the demon wolf king trapping the priest in battle, Soulsmith could hit around one out of five shots.

The great skeleton priest decided to break the deadlock. It fired off a circular ring of green flames around itself, knocking Hades and the demon wolf king back with what appeared to be a Ring of Rebounding Flames that encompassed all dimensions.

Finally getting rid of the two pesky flies, the great skeleton priest was visibly in a hurry to take off again in order to exert its dominance as a magic caster. However, Greenstone who had been staying behind Zephyrwolf the entire time hid his left hand as it left the ground, and the same scene recurred once again.

After barely getting a metre off the ground, the great skeleton priest tumbled back to the surface. Outraged, the great skeleton priest roared, ‘ARGHHH!!!’

Hearing the furious roar, the skeleton king that had been occupied by Drako Yau abruptly came to a halt before running off in another direction.

That direction… was where Greenstone was hiding!
