Chapter 286: A Battle of Fists

“Good!” Fong Sai Yuk readied his stance and charged forwards to deliver a palm strike.

Fong Sai Yuk’s attack was simple and casual; it lacked the speed and strength of a proper strike. However, the NPCs all nodded in acknowledgement. He intentionally slowed down to let Yim Ho see him move. Even though Yim Ho allowed him to make the first move, he didn’t take advantage of it to show his respect.

Meanwhile, Yim Ho felt himself sweating from all the “friendly” stares of his companions. They were like sharp swords pointing at him from behind, sending chills down him. With a roar, Yim Ho covered himself in a brown aura and met the incoming palm head-on with his palm. His figure overlapped with that of a bear as he thrust his palm out.

Sensing the surge of energy from Yim Ho’s palm, Fong Sai Yuk dared not to confront it directly. He shuffled his legs and shifted off the palm’s path by several inches.

“Level 20 Pugilist skill, Inch Step: Move linearly over a short distance in any direction.”

The skill’s essence lay in its compatibility with other skills. It could be used together with any other offensive skills and was the crucial skill that served as the linkage between the Pugilist class’ skills.

Fong Sai Yuk the pugilist had fallen into obscurity for a long while, but his Inch Step took everyone by surprise. They all saw the great potential of the skill when used appropriately.

Yim Ho was no exception. His palm strike missed its target, and Fong Sai Yuk pushed his arm aside before pulling back and saying, “Your turn.”

How shameful! He didn’t just shrug my attack off, but also went easy on me and said it’s my turn!

Even Yim Ho knew what shame meant despite his insensitivity. He could hear the condescending mocks from his companions in his head.

“As you wish!” Yim Ho roared and cloaked himself in orange—Tiger Morph!

A punch carrying the feral nature of a tiger rushed towards Fong Sai Yuk, who calmly bent his knees and ducked. The fist brushed past his hair from above. Placing strength into his legs, he launched himself forwards and snapped a punch.

“Level 25 Pugilist skill, Ultimate Snap Punch: An enhanced version of Snap Punch. Cannot be parried and deals extra damage if the enemy attempts to parry the attack.”

“Hmph!” Yim Ho grunted and changed his morph. His orange aura dispersed, replaced by a green glow—Turtle Morph. He never planned to parry it and instead took it right on.

Fong Sai Yuk’s punch connected, but Yim Ho didn’t even flinch as he countered with a hook. Fong Sai Yuk didn’t expect his punch to be so easily blocked and couldn’t react in time. His vision turned fuzzy and saw the stun icon the moment Yim Ho’s fist hammered his skull.

“Turtle Morph: Increases Defence by 30%, attacks may stun enemies by chance. Lowers movement speed by 30%.”

While Fong Sai Yuk was stunned, Yim Ho’s aura had reverted to brown. He swung his bear palms at Fong Sai Yuk and slammed the young man to the ground.

“Guh…”

Fong Sai Yuk saw a chunk of his Health disappear. He instantly rolled away and thrust his palm out.

Level 25 Pugilist skill, Aerial Breaking Palm!

A palm-shaped gush of air zoomed towards Yim Ho but was easily evaded. If Hades was renowned for his hands’ speed, then Yim Ho was just as renowned for his inhuman reflexes. The fact that he could instantly change to Turtle Morph against Man Hing Yau’s Frosty Beam was great proof of his reflexes.

Yim Ho’s battle mindset was top-notch as well, making him an unstoppable force when paired with his reflexes. Perhaps this was why he received the beast pugilist inheritance; the ability to switch between morphs under rapidly changing circumstances was the quintessence of being a beast pugilist.

After dodging Aerial Breaking Palm, Yim Ho charged back in without giving Fong Sai Yuk the room to reorganise. Not that Fong Sai Yuk planned to fall back either as he smashed his palm forwards.

“Level 15 Pugilist skill, Stele Palm: Deal external and internal damage, depleting the target’s Health over time.”

Both pugilists went back and forth in a rapid exchange of blows for over five minutes. After the initial exchange, both of them had a good grasp of one another’s capabilities and fought neck to neck. Combat prowess alone, Fong Sai Yuk wasn’t Yim Ho’s opponent, but his endless variations, especially Inch Step, put him on an equal footing with Yim Ho. He’d shift all over the place while attacking and switch between defence and offence with unpredictable movements.

Things were getting somewhat frustrating for Yim Ho. He was now using Tiger Morph as his go-to form because the bonus attack speed and movement speed boosted his combat capability greatly.

Yim Ho slashed his tiger claws. Much to his surprise, Fong Sai Yuk didn’t dodge or block it and instead reached his left hand at Yim Ho’s stomach. Yim Ho’s tiger claws landed, but they couldn’t break through the golden aura that suddenly shrouded Fong Sai Yuk.

Drako Yau felt a dire sense of danger just from watching the weird move.

“Level 35 Pugilist skill, Hardened Chi: Ignore all damage received from the next attack.”

Fong Sai Yuk glimmered like a golden arhat, his left hand reaching Yim Ho’s chi field near the abdomen. Air was sucked into his fist and formed a tiny raging whirlpool.

“Deific Blast!” Fong Sai Yuk’s voice thundered across the patio.

Boom! The whirlpool in his palm exploded like a bomb and sent an invisible shockwave in all directions, blasting Yim Ho into the sky.

“Ha… Uh…” Fong Sai Yuk gasped for air as excitement filled his eyes. I did it!

Meanwhile, Idyllic Poet curled her lips from her seat and said, “That guy, he almost messed up real bad.”

The others all nodded in agreement, apart from Zephyrwolf and Dumbgirl whose jaws dropped to the ground. They couldn’t tell what just happened as they were comparatively inexperienced.

Back at the sparring area of the patio, Yim Ho who was supposedly blasted away levitated in the air, snow-white wings sprouted from his back. As he flapped his wings, his energy-filled feathers wafted to the ground from above—an angelic sight to behold.

However, his expression was nowhere near angelic. He swooped down from the air without uttering a word. As he dove down, a blazing aura enveloped him, burning some of his fallen feathers nearby into cinders. His snow-white feathers also seemed to melt into flaming quills.

Yim Ho was just like a burning harpy when seen from afar. At thundering speed, he struck the ground in a bright flash of red that was immediately consumed by the ensuing explosion and the massive clouds of dust all over the place.
