Chapter 281: Buy One Get One Free

Seeing Zephyrwolf charge up the skies, a girl following behind Chau Yu pressed her lips in dismay.

“Spire master, I…”

Chau Yu glanced at the girl before saying, “Go.”

“Yes!”

The girl was elated to receive Chau Yu’s approval. She glared at Zephyrwolf’s back as she pulled out a bronze-green summoning token and threw it into the air. The token exploded into a green flash and shuddered the stairs, drawing everyone’s attention.

A three-metre-tall and six-metre-wide gigantic bronze-green cow appeared out of nowhere. The young girl leapt onto its head, grabbed its horns, then commanded, “Moomoo, charge!”

Moomoo responded with a “Moo!” and stampeded up the stairs. Several giant apes tried to slap it, but their attacks were ineffective; instead, they were the ones thrown away by the bronze-green cow.

Zephyrwolf’s jaws dropped to the ground as the girl on a cow overtook his Nene. The sunny girl had lightly tanned skin, and her shoulder-length hair was tied into a short ponytail. The moment she went past Zephyrwolf, she provoked him with a grin.

Startled momentarily, Zephyrwolf regained his senses and spanked Nene’s head. “Dammit! Nene, run! That fella is looking down on your big bro!”

Nene whimpered as if to say, I’m not the one looking down on you, spanking me doesn’t help at all…

Still, Nene accelerated up the stairs after whimpering.

“How troublesome,” Windstrider grunted and upholstered his two pistols.

All four of his shots landed squarely on the giant ape’s kneecap. While those apes had infinite Health and couldn’t be killed, certain skills still affected them.

Windstrider was no longer using the Level 25 Soul of Bartos, replacing it with the Level 35 epic equipment Divine Zero-Angle Gun. Its effect was imbuing attacks with a fifty-something per cent chance of inflicting slowness on the enemy. For ranged players, it was a very practical effect in combat, especially when in the hands of a proficient dual-wielding marksman like Windstrider. Under Windstrider’s cover fire, the group’s journey up the stairs was generally smooth-sailing.

A bit further away, Drako Yau noticed with his sharp eyes how Greenstone dealt with the giant ape that suddenly lunged at him. Greenstone stuck his arms on the giant ape and used its force against itself. The technique was probably from the Tai-Chi skill book Hagrid had given him. Considering it was a legendary inheritance that complemented his Three Treasures Integration style greatly, he was surely bringing the most out of himself, his style, and his inheritance.

Drako Yau shook his head. This guy has excellent footwork, overpowered support skills, outstanding timing, and now the all-rounded Tai-Chi… Imagine if he’s the enemy.

The first stage of the quest was no big challenge for the top players. However, things were entirely different for those who tagged along for the fun. This trial had the obvious goal of eliminating everyone who tried to sneak in but didn’t have the capabilities to back them up.

Cries and shouts resounded like a symphony, accompanied by shadows that flew past them down the stairs in the sky. Countless incompetent players were flung off their feet by the giant apes’ slaps.

As they travelled upwards, Drako Yau and his companions witnessed an intriguing scene. A young lady was dodging left and right to avoid the onslaught from two giant apes, but worst of all were the arrows pouring at her from behind.

“Collis, what is the meaning of all this!” The lady’s voice was so cold that it made people quiver.

On the other end of the conversation was the inheritor of Weighty Arrow, Collis. “I told you to take my offer! Who do you think I am? Being my soulmate is your honour! You made me go the hard way!” he shouted before firing another Double Shot.

In this quest, getting struck by his Weighty Arrow was no different from forfeiting the quest; the slowness alone made it difficult to reach the designated coordinates within the time limit.

“Hmph! You despicable thug, I’d rather stay with a tiger than become your soulmate!” Man Hing Yau, the number one ice mage, replied.

Under normal circumstances, Man Hing Yau could have easily taken Collis out. Due to her reclusive personality, she usually chose to stay away from crowds whenever possible, which was why she was currently running up the edge of the stairs.

However, those giant apes emerged right at the stair’s sides. Her position aggroed two giant apes that just spawned in. Collis, sensing the opportunity, threatened her into dating him, or else he’d drag her down together.

What about Firefly? For a playboy like Collis, pursuing whatever girl he came across was simply in his blood; he had already forgotten about her long ago.

Idyllic Poet was steaming in rage. While she wasn’t too fond of the woman who was often compared to herself as the two top elementalists, seeing the bastard pull off such a loathsome move was too much to bear.

Drako Yau patted her shoulder and shook his head. “Leave it to Yim Ho.”

Idyllic Poet glanced behind to find Yim Ho donning himself in orange and lunging towards Collis. The unaware ranger turned around as he heard a gust—a tiger claw was rapidly enlarging in his sights.

Tiger Morph: Increases attack speed and movement speed. Attacks will rend the enemy and inflict bleeding.

Collis’ arrogance was solely reliant on his powerful inheritance. Combat-wise, his techniques were close to awful; his fate was decided the moment he allowed Yim Ho into melee range.

Why’d he help me? The man who… who… touched me…

Man Hing Yau flushed red and stood rooted to the ground. The giant apes shrieked and slapped at the stupefied lady mercilessly.

“Woman, don’t just stand there!” Yim Ho lunged at Man Hing Yau, only flustering her even more.

He’s coming at me? What does he want to do! He…

Yim Ho picked her up and dodged the two slaps before turning on his heels and fleeing. The two apes, having their prey seized, howled as they pursued Yim Ho.

“Strider, help!” Yim Ho shouted.

Seeing Yim Ho carry a fair lady in his arms, Windstrider grinned and said, “Damn, dude… Nicely done!”

Buffed by Dual Magazine, his two Double Shots struck the giant apes and slowed them while Yim Ho sped away with the speed buff from Tiger Morph. He easily broke away with the great difference in speed.

Danting looked at Yim Ho holding Man Hing Yau, whose face was burning red, in his arms, then sent an admiring at Drako Yau.

“Boss is indeed the boss. First he brings in Yim Ho, then Yim Ho brings in Man Hing Yau… It’s a buy-one-get-one-free bundle!”
