Chapter 258: Three Versus One

With strengths came weaknesses, and Weighty Arrow’s weakness lay in its consumption of maximum mana. It didn’t simply consume mana, but rather decreased Collis’ maximum mana every time he fired an arrow until it reached zero. Maximum mana didn’t regenerate like mana and would only reset after three hours.

Collis had to end all his fights before his maximum mana was depleted. He had never encountered anyone who could force him into using up all his mana though.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Arrows whizzed through the air one after another, but Bloodless Bladester’s technique was a ranger’s nemesis. He ducked left and right like a phantom and evaded all of the incoming shots.

Firefly paid no heed to the two and headed for Chan Ka Lok who was in a brawl with the boss. Noticing her intention, Bloodless Bladester pointed at her.

Thud! An arrow struck Bloodless Bladester. Overjoyed, Collis quickly cast Double Shot—both arrows also hit their target.

Suddenly, Bloodless Bladester turned crimson and disappeared.

“What?”

Firefly was also startled when she saw Bloodless Bladester appearing before her eyes as if he had teleported.

“I shall be your enemy!” Bloodless Bladester shouted as he swung his sword.

Firefly frowned. Though taken by surprise, she reacted calmly by pointing her shield forwards—Shield Bash! Just when her shield was about to knock Bloodless Bladester back, he had already retreated out of its path with three small steps, causing her Shield Bash to strike nothing emptiness.

Collis yelled in rage, “You dare to fight us both? How arrogant!”

Bloodless Bladester lowered his sword to point it at the ground. Firefly stood at a distance from him with her shield in front, with Collis pulling his bowstring behind her.

“Come at me!” Bloodless Bladester’s elegant smile was full of battle intent.

“It’s been a while, Mask.” Handsome Scholar smiled. “It’s been months since we last fought.”

Drako Yau stayed silent. He thrust his spear out and pointed it at a vacant spot.

“Come on, you guys can fight all you want. Why bother me?”

Lothbrok emerged from his lurk. Though the spear was over a dozen metres away, he felt the dreadful sensation of it piercing through his chest.

So this is the king of Yoda? Lothbrok thought.

The bandit martial couldn’t care less about their greetings and rushed in.

“Pardon me, Mask.” Handsome Scholar also followed suit, while Lothbrok grinned and lurked once again.

One versus three, huh? Now this is what I call challenging!

Collis was fuming as he let fly another arrow—Heart-Piercing Shot!

Bloodless Bladester evaded it again, but right after he side-stepped, a longsword thrust at where he was about to step on.

“Hm?” Surprised by her intuition, Bloodless Bladester hacked his sword horizontally.

Clang!

Firefly showed no emotions as her sword radiated a golden glow. Holy Sword was just a Level 15 Cleric skill that imbued holy damage into attacks, but for paladins that had low Attack, this was a crucial part of their skill set.

Whoosh! Her sword slashed out in a cross using the Level 25 Paladin skill, Holy Cross. The skill was known for its silence effect that forbade the inflicted enemy from casting any skills for three seconds, making it a decent control skill.

Bloodless Bladester pulled back in a quick retreat, but Collis’ arrow was already bolting towards where he was moving to. Top players were top players for a reason; even though this was their first time cooperating, they quickly built up chemistry with one another.

Still, Bloodless Bladester whirled his legs like a motor as tip-taps of his feet could be heard. No matter how fiercely the duo pressured Bloodless Bladester, they still couldn’t get him.

Collis was getting irritated after being unable to land a single shot for so long. With a glimpse, he suddenly Chan Ka Lok who was battling the bandit martial. He snickered and said, “You’re good at dodging, aren’t you? Then I’ll shoot the other guy!”

Chan Ka Lok was taken aback by the flaming arrow he saw from the corners of his eyes. He immediately moved aside, just in time to avoid the explosion. As if Collis could foresee the future, two arrows flew towards where Chan Ka Lok was dodging towards.

Chan Ka Lok stiffened; both arrows struck him and inflicted Thousand Catties.

Firefly frowned but decided to keep her mouth shut. After all, this was a quest, not a fair duel. The three-versus-two situation was unfair from the beginning. After switching their tactics, she took on a more aggressive approach to keep Bloodless Bladester occupied.

Her strength lay in her sharp intuition and perception. The moment she set her mind on blockading Bloodless Bladester, he was destined to be stuck in combat with her for at least a while.

The bandit martial roared. A shade of crimson shrouded over him—Berserker’s Blood Ritual! Chan Ka Lok grunted as he barely evaded the bandit’s greatsword with his sluggish body.

“Can you dodge this?” Collis put on a cruel smile and fired another arrow at Chan Ka Lok who already felt like his body was dragged down by metal chains. The arrow struck without fail, stiffening Chan Ka Lok.

The bandit martial had already hacked its sword into the ground, shuddering the ground with Cracking Wave. Chan Ka Lok spewed a mouthful of blood upon getting struck by the shockwave; his Health was already nearing rock bottom.

Bloodless Bladester had no choice but to cast Blood Shadow. He emerged before Chan Ka Lok and defended the bandit martial’s follow up attack. While Blood Shadow was a very powerful skill in his arsenal, it cost no mana, but ten per cent of his Health instead. He’d refrain from using it unless it was an emergency.

Seeing Bloodless Bladester return to support him, Chan Ka Lok was visibly relieved—and his face froze with that exact expression. Seconds later, he vanished in a trace of white light. Some distance away, Firefly was pointing her palm towards where Chan Ka Lok died.

It was the Level 30 Paladin skill of the Holy Magic skill tree, Consecration, one of the few ranged attacks the class had. Firefly spotted Bloodless Bladester and Chan Ka Lok’s blind spot and hit home with a single strike.

After Chan Ka Lok died, Bloodless Bladester was in a situation similar to that of Drako Yau. Both of them had to fight three enemies alone, but Bloodless Bladester was clearly the one in greater danger.

The bandit martial swung its two-handed greatsword with great force. Drako Yau calmly thrust his spear, striking the back of its sword to parry it away; his attention was on the man wielding a buckler.

Handsome Scholar drew a cross in the air—Holy Cross!
