Chapter 250: Invisible Shot

Drako Yau didn’t have time to think because two silhouettes already appeared before him.

They were spawned in by the system, just like monsters. One of them was as fit as a bull and held a heavy machete, unequivocally a warrior-type boss. The other person disappeared without a trace immediately after spawning in. It was the right move, but with Frost Form, Drako Yau already identified the player’s ID in just a split second.

Phoenyx!

Drako Yau quickly recognised the seemingly familiar name. Phoenyx was the second person to have entered Mount Soughslit after Moonless Night. He didn’t see her in the Golden Palace though; she likely perished to the monstrous eagles.

Still, that didn’t mean she was weak. Drako Yau’s exceptional memory had recorded what Judge Chui had announced about her accomplishments.

“Pursued by three second-line guilds and survived. Defeated the hidden boss of Demon City, skeleton archer commander, alone in Normal difficulty.”

Her decision to use Lurk revealed that she had a hunter-based class, though it was unknown whether she was an assassin or ranger.

Two figures also appeared similarly in front of Yim Ho and Greenstone. In stark contrast to the muscular Level 40 epic warrior boss, the other person was much more delicate. She hid feebly behind the boss, but her ID and short staff were still visible.

Her ID was Man Hing Yau.

Standing before Bloodless Bladester and Chan Ka Lok was a male player who also wielded a lengthy sword. When he saw the two, he chuckled out of disdain.

“Guild master of Red Flower Society? External affairs officer of Underworld? Oh, how foolish of you! To choose a quest that cannot be completed.”

His ID was Ying Tin.

Upon hearing the player names, Chau Yu’s mind raced through the database of player information and reported almost subconsciously, “Ying Tin! The best fighter of the Evergrand guild Six Nations. He’s a weaponmaster, but beware of the strange skills he got from encounter quests. He mainly attacks with sword auras and likely has some items that increase his aura skill range.”

“Man Hing Yau!” Chau Yu sounded heavy. “An elementalist. If Idyllic Poet’s the best fire elementalist among the three cities, she’s her counterpart in ice magic. Information about her is very limited. All we know is she’s very well-rounded and exceptionally good, be it her technique or equipment! Don’t let her chant her spells so easily, or you’ll lose for certain!

“Phoenyx! She’s even more mysterious than Man Hing Yau! She’s a ranger, but that’s all we know. Don’t underestimate her!” Chau Yu exclaimed. “All of you, turn on your visual transmission. I need to see your fights first-hand!”

Chau Yu projected three holograms from his phone, each displaying a respective entrance. He then glanced at the villagers. While they seemed ready to fight, the ongoing battles at the village entrances didn’t bother them at all. They likely wouldn’t take part unless someone broke into the village.

The boss roared and charged at Drako Yau with massive steps—Dash! However, his focus was on something else; several whizzes through the air gave him chills.

What are those?

An eerie sight was unfolding before his eyes. The only thing he could see was the Level 40 boss charging at him, but with the aid of Frost Form, his perception wasn’t only limited to sight alone. The flow of air and soundwaves showed up as lines while scents were differentiated by colours.

After experiencing a breakthrough with the Cryoflame style, Drako Yau was like a radar with Frost Form on. Nothing could hide from him as long as they were within his detection range. And those senses were now picking up three lines cutting through the air towards him.

Drako Yau instinctively moved to evade the lines. Whoosh… The sounds of the lines brushing past him revealed that those weren’t illusions. The shot that missed its target and struck the ground showed its true colours—Triangular Strangle!

What! He dodged it?!

Little was known about the secretive Phoenyx because she had a rather unique inheritance. While she was a ranger, the inheritance which she received from a mysterious ranger buffed not her shooting skills, but her lurking abilities. When lurking, she could attack without exposing herself, for three attacks no less! It’d enter a fifteen-minute cooldown after the three attacks were used.

That wasn’t it. When lurking, every skill she cast were imbued with the effects of “Invisible Shot”, concealing even the projectiles she fired off. She was truly a traceless reaper among rangers.

With that inheritance, she managed to escape from countless dangerous pursuers and turned the tables on them. Invisible Shot had never failed her—until now.

Phoenyx had given much thought to her strategy since her enemy was the almighty Mask, king of Yoda, alliance master of Dragon Alliance! Even with Invisible Shot, she wasn’t careless and used Triangular Strangle as her first attack for its large skill radius which made it relatively easy to land. Once Mask was restricted, she could finish him off together with the Level 40 boss.

She even started casting her ultimate skill after firing Triangular Strangle… But Mask’s sidestep ruined all of her plans.

“Hmph!” Drako Yau grunted. Though surprised at first, he soon figured out Phoenyx’s encounter quest with the aid of Frost Form. Too bad you’re up against me!

He ignored the Level 40 boss and went straight for Phoenyx.

Yim Ho looked at the boss charging at him and Man Hing Yau who was casting a spell from afar. He immediately shouted, “I’ll take care of the boss, you go deal with her! Give me fifteen to twenty minutes and I’ll be done!”

Greenstone shot him a glance before saying, “The boss is mine. Go kill her!”

“What?” Yim Ho left his mouth open like a circle, an amusing face to behold.

A cleric wants to fight a Level 40 warrior-type boss? It’s an epic boss too! Stop joking around!

Sensing Yim Ho’s disbelief, Greenstone said coldly, “Less talk, just go!”

Honest people can be quite scary when they’re angry… Yim Ho shuddered, then replied, “Alright I’ll leave that to you.”

Yim Ho then used Tiger Morph and charged at Man Hing Yau. The bandit whose name was Bandit Vanguard tried to attack Yim Ho, but Greenstone drew its attention with several silver needles before the bandit could do anything.

Yim Ho gave Greenstone a thumbs up and continued with his charge.
