Chapter 240: Flickering Headband

Dancing Flames—Zephyrwolf had the same skill after limit breaking.

For 10 seconds, attack damage is increased by 50%, defence is increased by 30%, critical hit rate is increased by 10%, movement speed is increased by 5%. After 10 seconds, all attributes will decrease by 30%.

“Die!”

The word shot forth from his jaws like rolling thunder. It was the amalgamation of his internal forces, ancient martial technique, skill buffs, and equipment buffs, meant to end everything in one attack.

Two opaque tiger heads pincered Drako Yau with the arena’s barrier behind him. His escape route was blocked off from all directions. There was no escape; no matter how quick he was, he couldn’t pass through the walls that were closing in on him.

Despite Tigeroar’s delighted expression, he still felt a brief moment of fear. This Mask is too damn scary. I can barely defeat him even after revealing all my trump cards! Well, all’s well now that he’s dead. Who else can compete against me? Hahahah!

Boom!

The two tiger heads hammered the corner where Drako Yau was without leaving a single gap in between—it spelt certain death! Even the ground ended up with a massive crater surrounded by clouds of rubble and dust.

Tigeroar let out a sigh as the flames on him waned out of existence, leaving him weakened. Dancing Flames was a powerful hidden skill that increased attack damage by fifty per cent. Along with the buffs from Divine Martial Sword, his Berserker skills, Roar of the Forest Tiger, and the debuff inflicted on Drako Yau by his Feral Rage set, his attack just now was no different from that of a Level 50 player!

Was there anyone who owned such luxurious equipment? Divine Martial Sword alone was the dream weapon of every player.

Tigeroar hung his sword onto his back and recalled his white tiger into its summoning stone. This was the first time he had gone all out; as a person who preferred to hide his card, he would never do such a foolish thing under normal circumstances. However, he couldn’t hold back when the enemy was a Maverick, not to mention that Mask’s cultivation style was of a higher tier than his. He didn’t dare to hold back.

Eh? Tigeroar felt something was off as he waited for the system to announce his victory and teleport him. Why is the system so slow this time?

Scorching heat suddenly burnt him from behind. Stunned, he was sent flying like a broken punching bag while his bones were shattered with terrifying sounds. A dark, burnt palm was left on his vest.

Tigeroar lay paralysed on the floor. He thought hard about what just happened. From where he stood just now, a red shadow stood tall and strong—the crimson cloak that flowed like blood, the fiery mask that burned like fire. The shadow still had his palm out after shoving a palm strike onto his back.

“How… is that… possible…”

Weakened by the debuffs following his previous buffs and his carelessness, Tigeroar was incapacitated by Drako Yau’s all-out attack enhanced by phase two Flame Form.

Mavericks had no such things as Health or health bars. They could be killed just by landing a single hit on a critical spot. Tigeroar gurgled blood and spit as he lay on the ground, his face full of disbelief.

I don’t understand!

“You think you know the game very well, don’t you?” Drako Yau said slowly. He glared down at the battered Tigeroar like a king. “You kept saying I rely only on my internal forces, didn’t you?”

Drako Yau pulled his mask down a little and lifted the brush of his black hair to reveal his forehead. A glossy headband the thickness of a little finger could be seen. It was as black as his hair and blended in perfectly, but beneath his hair on his forehead was a thumb-sized silver gem.

Headband? This belongs to a mage! A mage…? Tigeroar couldn’t believe his eyes. “Flash…”

Drako Yau pulled his mask back up without revealing his face. “Yes, it’s the Tormentor skill, Flash.”

The headband was a Level 30 epic item handpicked by Hades’ group back on Mount Soughslit. Its stats weren’t high because it was categorised as cloth armour, but its value lay in its item skill, Flash.

Level 30 Tormentor skill, Flash. Blink a short distance in any direction.

As an item skill, it was merely Level 1 and only had a blink distance of three metres. However, this was enough for Drako Yau to notice its worth and choose it—the headband was his trump card.

He couldn’t have escaped no matter how quick he was since all routes were sealed off. It was like being in an enclosed room where all walls collapsed inwards; speed didn’t make a difference at all.

However, Flash’s effect was to blink a short distance, meaning the player would vanish and materialise at the designated location. He blinked at the right moment to bypass the tiger heads and made it out alive. He then hid at Tigeroar’s blind spot and struck with his palm.

Tigeroar had never expected Drako Yau to survive, thus he let his guard down and was punished instantly. While he knew Mask had an unknown hidden class, who would’ve guessed that a warrior-type class could use Tormentor’s Flash?

“You think you know the game well, know your items well, and know your skills better than I do. Yet you end up defeated by an item skill.” Drako Yau was a towering mountain before Tigeroar. He looked at Tigeroar from above with disdainful eyes.

For unknown reasons, Drako Yau had designed half of this version of Real World. He was undoubtedly the player who knew most about the skills in this world, and that knowledge granted him an edge over everyone else.

Tigeroar could only laugh bitterly as he lay paralysed on the ground. Mask’s palm strike was infused with internal force, which was drilling into him through his wounds like poison. As he was seriously injured, he couldn’t circulate Roar of the Forest Tiger to resist the invasion.

“I’ve lost. Kill me.” When Tigeroar admitted defeat, a ten-second countdown timer appeared in the battleground. Both would be teleported out after ten seconds, but that was enough time for Drako Yau to kill him.

“Kill you?” Drako Yau hung a smile on his face, a mocking one no less. “If I kill you, how am I any different from you, a bloody murderer? Unlike you, I don’t murder people. I’ve defeated you once; I can defeat you a thousand times more.”

The countdown was over. Drako Yau was gone.

Tigeroar was teleported away similarly. He sat on the ground in a daze, unable to utter a word. He let me live?
