Game’s Dogma

Chapter 208: Breaking The Barrier

Idyllic Poet was already taken away. However, her actions influenced the crowd like a ripple.

After the city guards stormed the place and brought her away, the massive crowd of Yoda players started a commotion. They believed that Idyllic Poet was protecting Yoda from the interference of other cities, which also meant protecting them, the players. Everyone started booing and making unfriendly noises at the players of The Unfettered, some even readying their weapons.

Players of The Unfettered were all elites who believed that they stood at the top of the hierarchy of players. Still, even if each of them could defeat two or five enemies, they couldn’t handle ten or even a hundred enemies alone. With tens of thousands of players from Yoda gathered at the plaza, their cries and shouts shuddered the ground like thunder and also terrified the haughty elites of The Unfettered. Their legs trembled as they quickly vanished through the teleportation array.

When the last player of The Unfettered left, the entire city of Yoda cheered.

Soon after, the four major guilds made a joint declaration to condemn The Unfettered’s actions. In fact, everything went according to their plan, apart from the part where Idyllic Poet killed Mister Unfettered. They would’ve sent a large mob over to probe the intruders and hopefully scare them off. That’d buy some time for Mask, and Idyllic Poet’s move simply made it more effective.

Thing was, no one knew how long she was going to be imprisoned.

‘Guild master, what now?’

Chau Yu chuckled. ‘I’m sure of it now, Mask is trapped and can’t escape.’ However, he had a complicated feeling—relaxed but also somewhat disappointed.

Chau Yu was a proud person; only a rare few had the honour to become his enemies, and Mask was among one of them. Under the constant pressure and threat of Mask, Empyreal Spire had been growing rapidly. Now that he confirmed the news that Mask was forever trapped, he was at a bit of a loss. Confidantes were hard to come by, but the same went for good enemies.

‘Gather the Empyreal Alliance. It’s time to make our move.’

Members of Empyreal Spire all tensed up and looked at him sternly. ‘But how are we going to defeat them?’

Chau Yu laughed again, though it wasn’t as merry as it seemed. Defeating an unruly mob that couldn’t retaliate wasn’t a satisfying feat. He said, ‘Leave that to me. I know what to do.’

Everything was made up of darkness. The space itself and even the metallic bars were eerie black. No wonder so many players chose to delete their accounts or abandon the game; no one would want to stay in such a gloomy and depressing environment.

In such a place sat Idyllic Poet. She sat there in silence, surprisingly calm and fearless. The cultivation style, Verity of Flames, had already affected her quite a bit in just a few days. While she was still the grumpy lady she used to be, she had also turned into a volcano that was waiting to erupt; she’d either stay dormant or stun the world with her devastating eruption.

The gates to her cell suddenly creaked as a middle-aged man entered the cell.

She looked up at the man. The place was dark, but the man’s slim eyes were just as smart and sly.

‘Miss Idyllic Poet, the Castellan awaits.’

Drako Yau was currently stuck in a bizarre state.

He felt himself turning into a pitch-black space, and he stood atop the emptiness in the centre. While he couldn’t see anything through the darkness, he felt he was the centre of everything.

All of a sudden, he could no longer see himself as his field of view was forcefully widened, as if he was observing the space from afar. Colours gradually paved their way into black canvas.

Blue.

Red.

The glacial blue formed ice and frost, occupying the upper half.

The fiery red burned like scorching flames, occupying the lower half.

The sky was made of ice, while the ground was made of fire, and separating the two colours was a thin layer of green flames. Drako Yau then knew his consciousness was currently viewing the insides of himself.

This was the first time he had seen what was going on within himself. The ice and flames were restless rioters that kept assaulting the green wall of flames, but it stood unmoved regardless of how vigorous the two forces were, dividing them.

Drako Yau focused his sights. What he was attempting next could spell heaven or hell for him.

Drako Yau let out a deep breath and widened his eyes into a fierce glare.

Frost Form!

Flame Form!

The green wall of flames remained undamaged at first, but it soon started twisting and distorting; he was actively controlling the forces to demolish the barrier!

As if sensing that the barrier was weakening, the forces of ice and fire rampaged against it. Still, the green flames remained sturdy all while steadily dissipating.

Drako Yau frowned, but he quickly collected himself. The green barrier weakened once more and was only a slit thick.

He was breaking the barrier with his powers. The two forces continued their rampage until… Boom! The green flames were devoured by the two forces as they clashed violently against one another.

Drako Yau coughed up a mouthful of blood. Blood was also seeping out of his eyes, ears, and nostrils. Val the Balrog was worried sick, but it didn’t dare approach him in fear of disturbing him… and also because his aura now instilled a tint of fear.

The two forces fought like two opposing armies. As they tore each other apart, the space around them sustained more and more damage. Drako Yau knew the space was in fact his body, and it’d soon break if he let the forces rampage any further.

Drako Yau twisted his face as the forces continued their clash while blending. He was risking his life, or rather, making a bet with his life as the stakes.

In truth, this bet wasn’t a mandatory one, but he’d be trapped in the weird space forever if he didn’t make the leap of faith. He couldn’t stand giving himself up.

Why can’t I leave this game?

Why is the world so similar to the one that I’ve created?

Who is the old geezer?

My companions await my return! Poet that silly girl, she must be panicking.

There’s also the golden-haired enemy who wields a lance.

Trapping me here for all eternity? Impossible!
