From Dusk till Dawn!

Chapter 183: Marriage or a compromise?

"In the past decade, the mastermind behind this has killed all the people of your age groups who have any interactions with me. I came to know about this when they attacked an office staff just because I interacted a little with him. It was already the fourth time someone was going to die because of me," the man sighed as he continued, "Luckily, he was saved, and later on, I isolated myself from everyone to find the culprit behind it. But it didn't lead me anywhere."

Mo Yuhan's grip on Tang Li's hand tightened all of a sudden; she could feel his fingers shivering. Her thumb slowly caressed the man's palm, soothing his fears.

Tang Yichen frowned, "Isn't it too psychotic? Why would someone kill people in such a random fashion?"

Mo Yuhan's eyes flashed slightly.

"That person either knows about your children's age but he does not know their identity, or, he wants everyone close to you dead," As Mo Yuhan spoke, Master Song felt a chill running down his spine.

"I don't remember offending someone like that. Moreover, why would he want everyone around me dead?" He furrowed his brows.

It was quite obvious that even if he ended up offending someone, with his status and influence, who would dare to raise his voice?

It was quite scary to think that someone would be so crazy, even to the extent of killing the people around him. Who will hate him so much?

"So, what about Tang Meili? When did you meet her?" Tang Li nonchalantly asked, snapping him out of his thoughts. She didn't bother to address Tang Meili as her mother.

Mo Yuhan stroked the back of her hand gently calming her nerves.

Master Song frowned for a moment before speaking, "We were in the same university. Our marriage at the beginning was just a compromise."

Compromise?! Everyone in the room was stunned.

Tang Yichen opened his mouth to speak something, but in the end, he decided against it. It was too hard to believe. If they didn't like each other, why bother to marry then?

Then again, he shook off such ridiculous thoughts, 'It's better this way or else I and my princess wouldn't have existed today,' the man concluded in his mind.

"Yes, we did not marry each other out of love," Master Song looked calm as if he had already expected their reactions. The man stood up from the couch before walking towards the french window. His fingers lightly traced the cold window panes, "It was a friend's birthday party that night and we all were drunk. I don't remember how we got there, but all I know is I woke up next to her the next morning."

Being a man of blue blood, how could he not be a responsible man? Not to mention that he had another identity way above that. As a high-rank military officer in active service, he wasn't allowed to shrug off his responsibilities as a man.

Moreover, she wanted to hide from her family and have the freedom and he decided to be responsible for her after what happened between them. So, they both gave in to each other as they reached the consensus. They decided to marry each other, and if it didn't work out, they will split.

But, she had an extra condition that she stated before their marriage. And it was that she did not want to share her identity with him, to which he complied without much thought.

Tang Meili was in her early twenties back then. The couple though married because of the circumstances, they gradually developed feelings for each other and they had their first child, Tang Yichen.

She wanted freedom, a happy life, a happy family, she adored everything that existed in fairytales; all glittery and perfect. Life was but a harsh reality.

Tang Meili was everything like a rebellious teen, she was stubborn yet her heart was kind.. way too kind for her own good. And that was enough to make a man fall for her.

"The first three years of our marriage were peaceful, everything was fine between us but it started to change gradually. I had to go to secret missions; there were certain things the officials need to hide from the general public, like the classified pieces of information..."

But he never realized why Tang Meili started doubting him like that. She would try to enter his private study, check the confidential files. He tried to explain it to her but she was so adamant that she had to see it, to know more about everything. But it was against the military rules.

"We had fights, we would sleep in different rooms. Father will usually try to convince us but she will never listen to anyone. As for me, I was a hot-blooded youth, not used to bow in front of anyone," Master Song sighed as he thought back to a certain incident when Tang Meili didn't feed Tang Yichen for a whole day just because she was angry. Luckily, his father was there on time.

"I lashed out at her that day. The next day, I had to leave for a mission. Father also went back to the ancestral mission. But I did not know that she was three months pregnant with Xiao Li at that time," His fingers curled into fists as a hint of pain flickered in his eyes.

Tang Yichen's forehead creased the more he listened to it, there was a doubt in his mind, but Mo Yuhan beat him to it as he asked, "Did she know about your identity?"

Master Song turned around to look at the trio as he nodded, "Yes, she did. I was not allowed to disclose my real identity in college. Faster restricted me to do it, since he has always preferred to stay low-profile, I was also used to it. But after we got to know each other, I didn't have a reason to hide it from her."

Tang Li leaned her head against Mo Yuhan's shoulder, "What happened when you came from the mission? Was she still there?"

The man's expression dulled visibly, "I came back after two months..."
