Chapter 2: North Gate

To the north of Tierra is the black desert known as the dead zone, so the traffic at the north gate is very small. Even in this period, the traffic is only one person per day on average.

Therefore, the work of the guards at the north gate is much easier than that of the guards at other gates. Only two of the ten guards in the morning shift will seriously guard the north gate, and the others can rest, and then change to two people every ten minutes.

"It seems that someone is coming." The guard with better eyesight of the two guards noticed a dark shadow in the distance.

"Maybe it's just animals." Another guard saw the shadow after a while.

"Come and gamble, if it's a human, you will invite you to dinner tonight." The guard who discovered the shadow first suggested.

"Okay, but if it's an animal, you'll have dinner tonight and tomorrow night."

"That's it." The guard, who was quite confident in his vision and judgment, accepted the somewhat unfair bet.

"What's the matter, is there a long-lost customer?" The other resting guards gradually came over.

"Maybe it's just an animal," replied the guard who bet that the shadow was an animal.

"Too close, I think you will lose." Animals are not too close to areas of human activity.

"I'll go get the water," said one of the guards who joined the fun, because most of the people from the north talked about water first.

"You lose, you'll have dinner tonight." The guard with good eyesight can already roughly see the appearance of the shadow.

"Okay, it's you who won." The guard who lost the bet also saw that the comer was a human.

The visitor was wearing a white long-sleeved top with a black sleeveless jacket over it, a red belt around his waist for hanging a scabbard and a money bag, a green leather bag on his back, and a white sash on his head. The headscarf, only the left and right pupils, which are black and grey, are exposed.

Because he came here from across the black desert, the clothes of the visitor were covered with dust and blood that had been dried up for a long time, and the feet were not shoes at all, but were only covered with cloth.

"Has the admissions been held yet?" After coughing a few times, the visitor asked the guard in a very hoarse voice.

"Enrollment will be held tomorrow. If you want to enter Tierra, please take off your hood and stand here, and you must hand over your weapons." In the center of the gate is a painting that can remove all camouflage magic. Magic circle, this is to allow the guards to confirm the appearance of outsiders, in order to prevent people wanted by other countries from sneaking into Tirla and causing unnecessary trouble.

"Is there any water?" The visitor pulled down the hood, revealing a delicate face. Her hot and cracked lips proved that there was no more water in her leather bag.

"Here you are." The guard brought the cup with water to the visitor. The guard was a little surprised when he saw the appearance of the visitor. He didn't expect that there would be a girl who came here alone across the desert.

"Thank you." The girl hadn't drank water for at least two days, so she quickly drank the water in the cup as soon as she got it.

After drinking the water, the girl walked into the magic circle and handed over the cup and the knife around her waist to the guard.

"You can enter the city." The guard did not relax the check because of the low traffic here, and only let the girl in after confirming that there was no problem with the girl.

When she stepped into Tierra and turned her back to the guards at the north gate, the girl covered her face with her turban again. She looked at everything in front of her and said, "I'm back, Tierra."
