Emperor's Reckoning

924 Unwelcome Ceremony

Every pupil in sight was trembling at the sight of the young man. He swooped down from the very sky right above the clouds, and he landed with a simple thud right behind Han. None of the five teachers managed to detect his presence until it was too late.

Marat was looking at him with a burning passion. His sealed lips started to part and revealed his fangs. "Interesting..."

( This man... is from the Mortal World ) thought Vina before she gulped. ( I couldn't even sense him! ) she took a glance over at the principal whose eyes were also opened wide. ( Seems like he didn't either, what is going on here?! ).

( This is our teacher? ) thought Rayus as he couldn't blink his eyes. The entrance was not by any means wondrous but it proved a point that nobody could deny.

"You look pretty stunned," Lyon smirked as he shrugged. "Perhaps because of my handsomeness? Surely not? By the way, are any of you pretending to be a man? Or are you all boys?"

"Wh...what?" Reinhard and his fellows raised their brows at his questions before all the others followed suit. The situation quickly sank into awkwardness once Lyon opened his mouth once more. A remarkably unique talent.

"C'mon guys, say something," said Lyon, "I'm trying to break the ice here."

( You created the damn ice! ) thought the three of them.

"Who are you?" asked Cini as she revealed her emotion to be that of a noble seeing a peasant. Her chin was raised with her eyes half-opened.

Lyon turned around with his arms still crossed. "Well, lady, in case you haven't been paying attention, my name is Lyon."

"You know that's not my question," said Cini as she furrowed. "Who. Are. You?"

"L.Y.O.N," Lyon grinned before he burst into laughter and had his back slightly arched as he faced the sky with closed eyes.

"Tch!" Cini clicked her tongue before the principal snapped opened his eyes.

Her pressure was canceled right away the moment it flared out. Her eyes opened wide in shock before she darted her glance toward the old principal.

"Let's resume," said the old principal with a wide smile. "Lyon, no, forgive me, Teacher Lyon, please stand by my side."

"You could use better phrasing," Lyon rolled his eyes, "But alright, why not."

Lyon casually walked up the little platform and stood by his side before looking at the ones lined up in front of him with a smirk on his face.

"This is Teacher Lyon, he will be the teacher of the Sixth Class," said the principal with a smile.

"I don't know Old Gu, but the expression on my fellow teachers seems to be rather not welcoming if I must say," said Lyon. "Perhaps they don't want me here?"

"Oh, please don't say that, they are eager to befriend you," said Old Gu before the vice principal followed suit.

"Yes, they are very eager," Judsah nodded.

"C'mon, you think I'm a kid or something?" Lyon shrugged, "Here is a better idea."

The principal raised his brows.

"Oi, my students," said Lyon before he pointed at Reinhard. "What do you think? Do they welcome me? Or do they not welcome me?"

Somehow, Lyon pinned all of their attention on the class the teachers despised the most. All three members of the class immediately received glares that they never thought would cramp their shoulders with graduation in mere months coming. Nevertheless, amongst the three, one answered.

"Yes, they do."

Noah and Reinhard turned their heads toward Rayus in disbelief. They never thought that he would be the one that was able to voice out his voice.

"They do what?" Lyon asked with one of his brows raised.

"They do not welcome you, teacher," said Rayus with his flat expression.

"Heh, obviously you're not going to believe a word coming out of their mouth, are you?" asked the tallest teacher, Rokh.

All three students frowned before looking at Lyon.

"Well, I don't know who he is, he might betray me," Lyon shrugged. "But for now, I will believe him, well, because also the fact that you people really are so full of yourself."

"What?" The teachers raised their brows except for Marat who made a chuckle.

"I've heard all your words from behind the clouds up there," said Lyon. "I'm from the Mortal World, so I am shit."

"Heh, your vulgar words say it all," said Han.

"At least my neck is not wet for a clean blade, like yours," said Lyon with a chuckle "wipe that neck before I give in to the temptation."

Reinhard and the other two gaped at his response.

"What?! What did you say?!" said Han with his eyes glaring. He bowed at the principal, "Principal! Did you hear what he said?"

"I'm beside him, Teacher Han, what do you think?" asked the old principal before he sighed. ( It seems like this is not going to be smooth, just as I predicted, his character is too much to handle... or perhaps.... hmm... perhaps this is his way to approach his students? To gain his trust? ).

"This has gone too far!" said Han.

"Oof, he's mad," Vina smiled.

"You seem to be enjoying this show," said Yama the primal teacher. He crossed his arms and smiled.

"Who doesn't?" Vina laughed.

"What do you want, Teacher Han?" asked Judsah.

"I think I can say what Teacher Han wants to say, in fact, I believe that we all shared the same thought," said Rokh.

"Oh?" Lyon raised his brows, "You seem like you have an idea behind your dubious sincere eyes."

"I will pretend not to hear that," said Rokh, "'Welcome' is not the appropriate word, we are inclined with doubts clouding our minds. You see, we are all teachers here, and we brought our students as well, however."

"However, you don't trust me to have the qualification to teach those three?" Lyon raised his brows.

"You're quick-witted," said Cini.

"Thank you," Lyon smirked.

"Truly primal," Rama laughed. "However, what's more,/ primal than to prove yourself?"

"Oh?" Lyon raised his brows with a teasing smile, "and how you want me to prove?"

Han smirked before crossing his arms.

"Perhaps a demonstration?" said Rokh, "We, as well as the students, are really eager to see what you're capable of, after all, those three deserve a well-respected teacher as well as a strong one, we will not— in the name of the teachers in Nirvana School —let some scoundrel teach them."

"Such loquacious mouth," Lyon remarked with a snort. "You gave your words a coating of gold, but one look at those three and I knew, the gold was only surface color..." Lyon leaped down before facing Rokh with his arms crossed. "You see, my shit is also golden sometimes and it smells less than your wisdom."

"You—!!"

"Pfft! Hahaha!"

Reinhard and Noah turned before seeing Rayus having the laugh of his lifetime. His eyes were tearing.

"Don't laugh!" Rokh shouted, "Behave yourself!"

Rayus immediately shut his mouth and turned rigid as Lyon smirked and nodded.

"See, you are proving my point, Lyon," said Rokh. "You are not fit to teach them."

"Well, don't ask me, ask Old Gu," said Lyon as he shrugged. "It's not like you have any power to decide who can be a teacher or not."

"You—!"

"Teacher Lyon is right," said Old Gu. "You don't have the right to decide whether he is a suitable teacher for Class Six or not, that power is reserved only to me."

Lyon smirked, however, Old Gu still continued.

"Qualification? Regarding qualification, I think all five of you have understood, the magnitude of how his prowess by merely how he presented himself in front of you, no, in front of us," said the principal. "He could kill any of you in broad daylight like this."

"But that's because we let ourselves down!" said Han.

"And is that a problem? Are you seriously going to blame me because of how weak you are?" said Lyon. "You don't think your words thoroughly Han, oh I'm sorry, Teacher Han," he smirked.

Reinhard had his hands trembling as his lips quivered. He looked at Lyon, with his pupils trembling.

"Tch! You bastard!"

"Heh," Lyon shrugged, "Grit your teeth all you want, let them chattered to pieces for all I care. I'm here with nothing but a single objective. I'm going to teach them how to win this so-called graduation event of yours."

The welcoming ceremony sank into an awkward silence before someone broke it.

"Hahaha! They're hopeless, oh new teacher," said Jasper with a smirk. "It would be akin to asking them to climb Paradise with their hands tied."

"Oh?" Lyon raised his brows.

"Jasper!" Noah frowned as he glared at him.

"What? You know it yourself, you have no chance at all in beating all of us, I mean, I don't mean disrespect, but you three are the clowns of Nirvana School," Jasper and the rest of the class laughed. He then muttered to himself, "And it seems like they finally have the main performer."

"I don't think you understand my words well," said Lyon as he casually sat at the ledge of the platform whilst looking at all of them. "I don't ask them to win, heck, I don't even ask them to do their best— I told them to win, big difference."

All lips were shut as Lyon's word fell, but Marat recovered the quickest as he laughed. "Well said!"

Lyon nodded with a smirk before seeing Marat turn around and left with his students. The other teachers soon followed suit with some of them giving Lyon a spare of their stock of glares. Nevertheless, the welcoming ceremony was finally over with the sign of sigh of relief from Judsah.
