Toyotami Genji

As noon approached, Lucius planned to go to the city library to learn about history, science, and other things about this world. Meanwhile, Erix decided to explore the city, wanting to experience the fantasy atmosphere it had to offer. They both left Yura with her family at the hospital.

When Lucius arrived at the library, he quickly searched for the books he needed and read them at the designated table. Luckily, the writing in this world was the same as on Earth, so he had no trouble learning about everything.

The more pages he turned, the more knowledge he absorbed. For him, knowledge was something very important. Without science and information, it would be very difficult to blend in with this fantasy world.

This was also influenced by his life with his master. He was a poor child with no parents who was picked up by Erix in a dirty and rundown area. His master was once ridiculed and ostracized for considering Lucius as his friend, despite the clear distinction between a friend and a servant.

Therefore, he did not want to burden his master with his limited knowledge. He studied and continued to learn until he could stand beside his master without having to burden his position.

Lucius’s seriousness was very different from what Erix was doing now. The young man was just aimlessly wandering through the busy streets of the city, like an observer monitoring the development of the people.

Until he saw a girl with cat ears and tail. Physically, the girl looked like a human, but her hands, ears, and feet resembled those of a cat. Even her tail waved like an animal. Erix didn’t understand whether this woman was a half-beast or a werebeast herself.

He continued to stare at the girl’s tail as it swayed and twisted. He didn’t know why, but his soul seemed to have a sense of attraction to the girl’s cat-human tail. And without realizing it, he approached the girl and grabbed her tail.

The cat girl who was shopping was startled and angry. She was really mad.

“What are you doing?!” the cat girl scolded loudly.

Erix, realizing what he had done, was also shocked. “I’m sorry, it was an accident.”

“What was an accident?! Touching a girl’s tail is rude. It’s harassment!” the cat girl said in anger.

People around them looked in their direction. This was a very bad situation for him. Without thinking too much, he ran away from the crowd while shouting, “SORRY…!!!”

“Hey! He’s running away. Let’s chase him!” exclaimed a man in the crowd.

He continued to run, not caring about anything else. Because now, at least a dozen men were chasing him. He ran faster and widened his steps to avoid the danger that was chasing him. Splitting the crowd of people who were shopping. Until a large hand pulled him into a narrow alley between shops.

“Where did he go?” said one of the pursuers.

“Maybe up ahead. People like him should be caught,” added another. “Let’s go!”

The group chasing him left the hiding place. Finally, he managed to escape the pursuit.

“You’re safe now,” said someone who had just saved him. A burly uncle with a strong build. His partly white hair was neatly combed back. His short beard looked proportionate to his face. “That was very brave of you, kid. Touching a girl’s tail in a crowd. I’m impressed with your boldness.”

Erix gasped for breath before saying, “What? My heart hurts from your praise, Uncle.”

The uncle laughed gleefully. “I saved you, so as a reward, treat me to lunch. Luckily, I’m very hungry.”

“What? I don’t have any money!”

“Don’t be like that, or would you rather spend the night in jail? Do you know the girl whose cat’s tail you just stroked? She’s a merchant’s daughter. If you get caught, her father won’t forgive you. You could be a lifelong prisoner,” the uncle threatened. Erix started to feel scared, and dark thoughts swirled in his head. “Come on! I know a good place to eat.”

He let himself be taken by the uncle to a restaurant without saying a word. The man ordered almost everything on the menu. Erix thought hard about this problem, channeling his intelligence and cunning to come up with a brilliant idea. He could have a free meal and repay this greedy uncle at the same time.

The man ate the food he had ordered greedily, while Erix didn’t want to be outdone, so he ordered super delicious food without caring about the prices. He ordered seafood, meat dishes, and even air dishes. Soon the table was full of food, and they ate everything without hesitation. This was truly an impromptu feast.

A few minutes later, their hunger was satisfied, and their stomachs were full of high-quality cuisine. It was time for his plan to begin.

“Are you satisfied now, Uncle?” He asked.

“Well, I’m very satisfied,” the uncle said, cleaning his teeth with a toothpick.

“So I don’t owe you anything anymore, right?” Asked Erix again.

“That’s right, you’re free.”

“Then let me clarify the situation,” his tone became serious. “I don’t have any money.”

The uncle was startled, as if he had been struck hard. He looked at him seriously. “Don’t play around, boy.”

“I told you from the beginning, I don’t have any money,” Erix whispered irritably.

“Don’t expect me to pay, I don’t have any money either.” The man folded his arms in front of him, seemingly indifferent. Sweat dripped from his forehead to his chin.

“We don’t need to pay,” Erix said with an evil smile on his face.

It didn’t take long for the man to understand what the young man in front of him was saying. “Oh no, don’t tell me…”

And it was true. A moment later, cries echoed through the market street. They were chased by five muscular restaurant employees.

“Hey! Wait! Don’t run!” one of the pursuers yelled.

Erix and the uncle were running as fast as they could. To make things even more ridiculous, the man was laughing while carrying a plate of large lobsters ready to eat, even though one of their pursuers was the chef with a huge meat cleaver.

“Hahahahaha…I never thought I’d end up like this. This is the craziest thing that’s ever happened to me,” he exclaimed while enjoying the large lobster.

“Oh my God, how many times do I have to be chased like this?” Erix said anxiously.

Finally, after covering a considerable distance, they managed to escape the chase. It was unclear whether it was because the restaurant staff gave up or because they both ran super fast, but they were now lying on the outskirts of the city, behind some bushes, panting for breath. Even so, the uncle was still laughing about the crazy experience.

“What’s your name, young man?” the uncle asked, still gasping for breath.

“Erix,” he replied, still breathing heavily.

“The name’s Genji, Toyotami Genji. Pleasure to meet you,” the man said, introducing himself. “I like your style.”

“Uh, yeah, thanks,” Erix muttered, not really paying attention as he tried to catch his breath.

Suddenly, there was a spontaneous earthquake. The strong tremor shook the ground, causing people to panic and scramble to safety. Birds flew from tree branches and animals ran to what they believed to be safe places.

Some people chose to lie flat on the ground to avoid danger. Erix and Uncle Genji chose to stay lying in the bushes where they were hiding, waiting for the tremors to subside.

Erix looked a little panicked, covering his head with both hands. But Genji seemed different. He seemed to be worried about something. “This earthquake, I wonder if…”
