Divine Beast Tamer

Chapter 18:Beast Tide

*Ding... Dang... Ding...

The sound of the bell rang five times straight.

After it finished ringing, stopped for a second before they realized what that sound signified.

Blake who was silent a moment ago started shaking as fear covered his face.

"Beast tide... Beast tide... How can there be a beast tide here? The scouts sent by the kingdom didn't release a single signal yet."

"..."

Ronald was confused when he heard his uncle Blake's muttering. He can't connect everything that he said, so, he directly asked him what a beast tide was.

"Uncle Blake, can you tell me what a beast tide is?"

"No, we need to hurry and evacuate now. This is not a time for questions. For now, let's leave the village, the village can't hold on a beast tide. A beast tide is always being led by at least a beast lord ranked beast. And the village only had some militia for protection, but it was only effective against savage beasts and not to spirit beasts ranked beast and above. Go back home now, bring all the things you need to survive and leave immediately. I advise you to bring only the necessary items. I'll not bother you now cause I'll start my preparations and leave this village. As for the armor, pay me when you have money. If you survived, meet me at Blackstone City."

After saying this, his uncle Blake looked at the group of people, and then bowed, especially to the lady in blue, as a sign of respect.

After the bell finished ringing, the lady went to her group and listened to Blake's explanation about the Beast tide.

"I apologize to you sirs and miss, but ill be closing the shop now. This shop won't survive anyway."

Hearing this, Ronald called Freya over and directly went out of the shop, Freya followed him as she flew close to him.

Seeing Freya leaving, the lady was disappointed before she whispered something on the middle-aged man.

Ronald was running with all his might, as he was worried about his home. Though he was the only one living there, that place held a deep meaning in his heart as that was the only place where he shared memories with his mother.

As he ran, Ronald saw other people in his village, some of them were running while pulling or pushing some carts made of wood, while some are riding their horses as it pulled large carriages. Ronald also saw the adventurers that he met the other day, they were still escorting the merchant's carriages with a dark expression on their faces.

They're quite unlucky. Before they arrived in the village, they met bandits. And when they arrived in the village, two days later, there was a beast tide, such great luck, but all of those things are of no meaning to Ronald, as of now he was thinking of his home.

"Ronald, calm down first. First, equip your new armor then check your map. Check where the beasts are and how many beasts are there."

Luna said, reminding Ronald about the armor that his uncle Blake lent him. Ronald didn't examine the armor as he directly wore it while running. The people didn't mind his action as they were very focused on leaving the village.

Even though Ronald didn't know the armor's stats, he still wore it, as he currently didn't have any armor on him anyway.

After wearing the armor, Ronald then checked his map. In there he saw a red region, that came out of the Everlast forest, moving at a very fast speed to the village.

His house was located at the northeast part of the village, which was the closest house to the entrance of the Everlast forest.

There were only at least 10 minutes left before the red moving region reach his house if calculated according to the current speed the red region was moving.

Seeing this Ronald became desperate and ran with all his strength his body can extract.

***

10 minutes later. Ronald saw the outline of his house. He can also saw the galloping army of beasts. At the forefront, was a bunch of black forest wolves. Following it was a boar-like beast that had six tusks attached to its mouth.

In a matter of seconds, they reached Ronald's backyard, where the grave of his mother was located. Ronald clearly saw the beast passing through his backyard as they destroyed everything on their path, including the gravestone of his mother's grave.

After destroying his backyard, the next thing they destroyed was his house.

Seeing this, Ronald felt that his heart was being pricked by thousands of needles. Although his mother died a very long time ago, he still remembered her through the things that she left, including the house and the things inside the house.

Although he couldn't feel his mother's warm hug anymore, he still felt warm through the cozy atmosphere he felt when he was in his house, remembering the memories he shared with his mother.

That house stored all the memories of his childhood with his mother, everything related to his mother was in that small house.

Seeing everything getting destroyed, Ronald uttered an angry roar as his eyes reddened and rushed into the army of galloping beasts with his disassembling knife in his hand, releasing all the emotions that he felt.

Luna said something to him, but he didn't even listen to what Luna said.

One of the forest wolves that was at the forefront of the beast tide was a savage looking wolf, who was one of the candidates for the leader's position in the tribe. After the three kings fell, the whole wolf community was thrown into confusion as they lost their leaders. So the old wolves decided that every pack would nominate a candidate for the leader's position, then each nominated wolf will compete for the leader's position in the whole wolf community.

The old wolves decided to determine the winner of the competition by making all the nominated wolf fight each other, and the strongest will be the leader of the whole wolf community.

The competition went smoothly, and after some bloody battle, it finally came to the final battle. And one of the two participants of this final battle was the savage looking wolf in the front line of the beast tide.

It nearly won the competition, but before he killed his competitor, a spirit beast command them to attack the village. Having no choice they postponed the competition and immediately attacked the village, annoying the savage looking wolf, but he couldn't do anything as it was an order of a spirit beast.

And now seeing a puny looking human charging straight at him, he became more annoyed and let out an angry roar.

***

Ronald arrived at the front line of the beast tide and saw a savage looking wolf roar and pounced on him. But Ronald easily dodged this and used his disassembling knife and slashed the wolf's neck, ending the life of the pitiful wolf.

The other wolf didn't mind what they just saw and just continued pouncing on Ronald. Attacks came in waves, but Ronald just kept on dodging while slashing some of the wolves' neck killing them in one blow.

Ronald felt strange as he followed his instincts while dodging, he didn't know where this instinct came from, he just felt that he should move this way as he saw how the wolves pounced on him.

"Luna assign 2 points in strength, 2 points in agility and 1 point in stamina every time I level up."

Luna didn't reply, but he knew that Luna would do what he said.

Notifications kept appearing on Ronald's vision, luckily they are all transparent and are very small that if you wouldn't focus on them, they can't be seen.

After some time, Ronald fought the wolves wildly, not bothering about the wounds their claws made to him anymore. He just kept on swinging his knife to the necks of the wolves that came close to him.

On Freya's side, she just killed everything that came close to her with her wind blades. Flying had given her greater advantages on fighting these flightless beasts. If someone can see Freya's fight, they can see that she is improving at a fast pace. From killing a beast in 4-5 moves at first to killing a beast with a move now.

The battle continued, and Ronald's injuries became severe, blood covered all his body as dead bodies of beasts scattered in the area.

After some time other beasts appeared.

As Ronald was confronting the boar-like beast, suddenly a little green creature with a sword attacked him. He tried to dodge its attack, but he was in a deadlock with the boar-like beast and then the little green creature which he identified as a goblin succeeded in gravely injuring him. It severed his left arm.

Not minding his severed left arm, Ronald continued to fight both the boar and the goblin. He held on by himself for some time, but because of the accumulated injuries and his severed left arm, the boar managed to push him out of his balance, giving the goblin a chance to attack him again.

This time it hit his right hand, as he used it to defend his head.

Luna said something to him, but he heard nothing. All he heard was the roaring of the beast and the destruction of the village.

It was not only Ronald who fought the beasts, there are some other adventurers and the militia who gave there all, but it was useless as the beast tide seems to be endless.

Everything slowed down, as memories of his childhood appeared on his mind.

"Ronald you should pat the soil gently to eliminate air pockets in the soil. And also do not pile the soil on top of the plants…"

"What is my baby doing? Oh, you're observing the ants. Ronald do you know that ants can carry something 10 times to 50 times their weight. That is why when you meet some ant beasts in the future, it's better to take a detour when you're not at least 50 times stronger than an average human..."

"Mom, do I have a father? My friends always brag on me on how amazing their father was."

"Of course, you have. A very amazing father..."

Everything slowed down, as memories kept surfacing on his mind. The goblin raised its sword and prepared to attack him again, while the boar also started lowering its head and preparing to charge at him.
