Chapter 1 - The Accidental Discovery of an Adultery

Chapter 1: The Accidental Discovery of an Adultery

Translator: Snowball

In the woods on the hill behind the Mu’s Mansion, a skinny girl, who was covered by snow all over except for her bright, big eyes, was hiding behind a big tree, anxiously staring at a hut not far away.

“Why hasn’t Sister Xiangqin come out? Did she encounter wolves?” Liu’er never allowed Mu Yingxue to come out, saying that there were wolves on the hill.

As Mu Yingxue was shivering at the thought of wolves, she suddenly heard a woman’s loud moaning coming out from the hut. Being stunned by that voice, Mu Yingxue was more certain that her elder sister, Mu Xiangqin, was attacked by wolves. “No, I have to save Sister Xiangqin! I can’t just watch her being eaten by wolves without doing anything.” Although Mu Xiangqin had never been kind to her, Mu Yingxue thought she would change her sister’s attitude toward her by saving her life.

Rising to her feet immediately, Mu Yingxue looked around and her face lit up when she saw a giant stick not far away, to which she ran as fast as possible.

On the wooden bed, two bodies were entwined with each other. Maybe it was because they hadn’t seen each other for too long or because it was too cold in the room, they were still wearing their cloaks made of white fox fur. Peeking through a crack in the door, Mu Yingxue saw that her elder sister seemed to have been pressed under a wolf which was about to bite her head off.

“It hurts…”

Hearing her sister’s ‘anguish’ groan, Mu Xueying pushed the door open in haste and waved the stick to the ‘white wolf’ on top of Mu Xiangqin. Song Qingyun, who was in the middle of their intimacy, got struck on the head, which instantly made him shriek in pain like a pig at the slaughterhouse. Mu Xiangqin was so frightened that she let out a scream in horror.

“You wicked wolf, how dare you bite my sister! I’ll beat you to death!”

In her time, a maiden caught in adultery would be put into a cage and drowned in the pond. Being caught dumbfounded, Mu Xiangqin thought she was done. When she was still in a trance, Mu Yingxue kept on hitting that white figure with all her strength. Feeling dizzy, Song Qingyun struggled to distance himself from Mu Xiangqin.

When Mu Xiangqin fixed her gazed on the intruder and recognized her retarded sister before her eyes, her horror for being caught in adultery was instantly replaced by rage. “Mu Yingxue, what are you doing here?!”

For fear that her sweetheart might be beaten to death, Mu Xiangqin slapped Mu Xueying in the face while shouting loudly, “You moron, stop!”

Mu Yingxue’s fair face swelled up at once with five reddish fingerprints on it.

It wasn’t until Song Qingyun fell on his back by Mu Xiangqin’s side did Mu Yingxue find the ‘wolf’ she was attacking was actually her sister’s cousin. Realizing that she had made a serious mistake, Mu Yingxue burst into tears in an instant out of fright.

“Sister Xiangqin, please don’t beat me! I didn’t mean to hit him. I mistook him for a wolf, and I thought it was going to bite you, so…”

“You retarded bitch, go to hell!”

Mu Xiangqin was simmering with rage, so she was in no mood for Mu Yingxue’s explanation. Next, she vented all her anger by smacking Mu Xueyan on her face mercilessly.

“Ah! Sister Xiangqin, please have mercy on me!”

Curling up in the corner, Mu Yingxue folded her slender arms across her chest and trembled in horror.

Feeling dizzy, Mu Yingxue kept on screaming. However, the cowardice and fear in her eyes made Mu Xiangqin even more lunatic. She grabbed Mu Yingxue by the hair and banged her head on the floor before throwing her away as hard as possible. Mu Yingxue was too weak to resist the massive force, so like a kite with its string cut, she flew out and landed on the ground. Without even a cry, her little body stopped moving after a few twitches. Mu Xiangqin didn’t notice that the stone with sharp edges beneath Mu Yingxue’s head had been stained by blood.

When Song Qingyun came back to his senses, Mu Xiangqin helped him up in a hurry while asking with concern, “Are you okay, cousin Qingyun?”

“I’m fine. How is she doing?”

“She must have fainted. What shall we do now?”

A ferocious look appeared on Song Qingyun’s face. As the son of the Assistant Minister of National Defense, he had experienced a lot of things that ordinary people would never have been through in a lifetime. And it wasn’t a big deal for him to kill. “Relax. Now that she had found out about us, she cannot walk out of here alive. After all, secrets are only safe with the dead.”

Mu Xiangqin couldn’t make up her mind for the moment. Though she had secretly executed some maids and older female servants before, it had always been her henchmen who had done the dirty work for her.

Seeing Mu Xiangqin was still hesitating, Song Qingyun continued, “Although she’s an idiot, she hasn’t lost her tongue. If she goes back alive and tells the others what she saw, we’ll be doomed!”

Needless to say, Mu Xianqin knew the consequences. Fortunately, Mu Yingxue was retarded, and her status was even lower than a servant in the Mansion, so even if she died for no reason, it wouldn’t make a big difference. Since their parents believed in reincarnation, they would be delighted if they knew about this disgraceful idiot’s death and wouldn’t require further investigation. After weighing the pros and cons, the cold-blooded Mu Xiangqin nodded in agreement. “Cousin Qingyun, you’re right. If we let her go, we’ll die.”

Song Qingyun leaped out the bed and picked up a stone from under it before closing in on Mu Yingxue slowly.
