Bulgarian Empire

Chapter 3. Election - The Birth of a Child

After Austria-Hungary annexed Serbia, the situation in the Balkans changed again.

The landscape of the Balkans has become strange, and things are so strange. In history, the countries of the two camps of the Allied Powers in World War I have now boarded the ship of the Allied Powers, and the countries of the Allied Powers have joined the Allied Powers!

In order to resist the pressure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Kingdom of Montenegro was forced to move closer to Bulgaria, and it was only one step away from forming an alliance; while Greece and Romania quickly moved closer to the Austro-Hungarian Empire in order to counter Bulgaria, and it was only a matter of time before the three countries signed a secret agreement!

For all that happened before him, Ferdinand expressed his calmness! His current attention has been focused on the country, and the new Bulgarian parliamentary election has been completed.

The results are self-evident. Since Ferdinand reformed the electoral law, the degree of contribution to the country has been used as the main criterion for election. Naturally, there will be no moths in the election of members of Congress this term.

More than 90% of the members of Congress have appeared in the original Bulgaria, while the newly added territories accounted for less than 10% of the seats.

And this 10% was taken over by retired soldiers who migrated from the country. If there is no black box operation, no one will believe it!

However, this time Ferdinand really did not operate in the dark this time! For example, there are only over 10,000 voters in Albania, and 90% of them are immigrants.

And those who are eligible to stand for election are even rarer, and there are not many local people who have contributed to Bulgaria!

In line with the principle that rights are equal to obligations, there is no right to stand for elections without contributions. Except for these retired officers and soldiers, others can only watch the fun as melon-eaters!

After this election, Ferdinand's control over the Congress became stronger. Last time, there were a few lawmakers from political parties who didn't fit in. This time, the political party participated in the election of members of Congress, and the entire army was wiped out!

From now on, Bulgaria has once again entered the era of non-partisanship! Of course, Ferdinand didn't forget to take the opportunity to introduce regulations on political party control, and came to a bottom line to limit the development of political parties.

For example: a political party can only exist as a social group, and is not allowed to engage in any business activities, and is not allowed to accept social donations; those who join a political party must disclose their finances, and are not allowed to do business within three generations...

Anyway, ordinary people would feel numb seeing the series of restrictions, let alone join.

But it doesn't matter, this was introduced by the Congress itself, and it was added to the Bulgarian Constitution. Do you want to amend it? At least in Ferdinand's lifetime, it is impossible!

The next cabinet election went even smoother, without any disturbances, and the Constantine government was unanimously approved to stay in office!

Even the so-called democrats didn't raise any objections. After all, the cabinet has brilliant political achievements, and no one can question it!

If you want to change people, the Bulgarian people will not agree! If there are substitutions, who can guarantee that they can do better than them?

...

After finishing his work on the election, Ferdinand once again devoted his energy to his queen. Now he is almost inseparable from Xenia's side, and he handles official business next door.

According to the doctor, the childbirth is just a few days away. At this time, Queen Xenia has already moved into the delivery room and may give birth at any time.

The queen's birth is a big event for the whole of Bulgaria. Everyone is paying attention to the news. The cabinet has consciously reduced the number of reports to Ferdinand.

"Your Majesty, the queen is about to give birth!" A maid rushed in and said

Ferdinand, who was dealing with official business, dropped the documents in his hands after receiving the news, and rushed over without looking back.

At this time, Princess Clementine was already waiting outside the delivery room, and Ferdinand, who came in a hurry, was stopped by her.

"Don't go in and cause trouble, there are doctors and nurses inside, what can you do when you go in?"

Ferdinand thought about it, and it was the same reason. He really couldn't do anything.

In fact, Queen Xenia has moved several times, but stopped at the last moment,

It may be that the little guy inside is unwilling to come out and wants to stay in the mother's womb for a few more days.

But this time is different, the doctor has confirmed that this time it is really about to give birth.

In the 19th century, when a woman gave birth to a child, it was equivalent to going through the gate of hell. Fortunately, Queen Xenia was in good health, and she was the mother of seven children in history, which reassured Ferdinand a little.

Not only Ferdinand was anxious to wait, but even Nicholas II, who was far away in St. Petersburg, was also very anxious. He was also very concerned about the production, and sent telegrams every now and then to inquire.

In the past few days, there have been several telegrams a day, so that Ferdinand's reply is a few formulaic words - "soon", "not yet", "everything is normal".

In this era, giving birth to a woman has always been a high-risk job. Whether it is because of brother-sister relationship or Paul-Russia relationship, Nicholas II has to care about it!

The little guy who has not yet been born is undoubtedly the crystallization of the friendly relationship between Russia and Russia. Before he was born, he already had a golden job waiting for him.

It's not just the Russians who are concerned. In fact, there are quite a few bigwigs who care about the birth of the little guy. London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Rome... In the past few days, almost all the bigwigs in Europe have sent condolence telegrams.

Ferdinand finally realized what it means to have so many relatives. Not only big shots, but even some small nobles came to join in the fun. From the European continent to the American continent, Ferdinand estimated that except for Antarctica, where no one lives, there are relatives everywhere on this earth.

It wasn't that people were chasing relatives randomly, so they sent telegrams randomly. Everyone is indeed relatives, but the relationship is a little far away. Of course, this is also related to the development and growth of Bulgaria.

The more powerful Ferdinand is, the bigger this network will be. As long as there is no conflict of interest, everyone is willing to become proficient.

Time passed by every minute and every second, from the afternoon until midnight, when finally there was a burst of crying in the delivery room.

"Congratulations, Your Majesty, mother and child are safe!" A nurse ran out and congratulated

Hearing this news, Ferdinand's nervousness finally settled down, and he didn't care about it any more, and rushed directly into the delivery room.

Ferdinand glanced at the baby, then at the tired wife lying on the bed, and said excitedly, "Xenia is our child!"

Xenia looked at the baby with soft eyes, then smiled.

Before Ferdinand reached out to hold the baby, Princess Clementine had already taken the baby from the nurse, carried it to the bedside, and said kindly, "Thank you, Xenia!"

"No, mother, this is what I should do!" Xenia said with a smile

...

The atmosphere in the delivery room was so warm that the doctors and nurses retreated consciously, leaving room for the family of four.

The news of the little guy's birth quickly spread from the palace. A series of telegrams went from Sofia to all over the world. As long as others sent inquiries, Ferdinand responded politely.

Well, Karl is responsible for these calls. Ferdinand is still in the delivery room, and he can't remember these little things.

In the middle of the night, the Sofia printing house was still brightly lit. Obviously, the various newspaper offices in Sofia were rushing to produce newspapers overnight!

It's a shame they didn't get a picture of the little guy, not only that, but they don't even know the name.

However, this did not prevent them from spreading the good news. At this time, the people of Bulgaria have been waiting for a long time.

Now Ferdinand has to have a headache for the little guy's name. He had thought of many names before, but none of them were approved by his mother and wife.

Ferdinand once wanted to give up the right to name the child and leave it to the mother and wife. As a result, they ushered in unanimous accusations from the two that he did not pay enough attention to the child!

But what should it be called? This is too embarrassing for Ferdinand!
