Border Guardian Hal Akircius

Chapter 13: Northern Peace Politics Section (Part 1)

Fradia city after the war

In the city of Fradia, which has been completely burned, the people who became citizens forcefully concentrate on reconstruction.

Fortunately, the exterior walls of city walls and major buildings, streets and drainages had been turned into stone by the Tarpeius urban improvement project, sparing the fire damage.

Despite Dunford's overwhelming instructions, the citizens did not destroy imperial-style buildings.

On the other hand, however, the damage caused by the fire was exclusively concentrated on the citizens.

When Hull entered Fradia, he first decided to assign legions per neighborhood and began cleaning up the burn marks.

While Northern Legion soldiers clean up their grubs, demolish burned houses, and select available materials, the Corps of Engineers and Imperial Soldiers make use of their ability to set up and replenish their materials while building new houses one after another.

Based on the design of Tarpeius, the demobilized soldiers of the Imperial once arrested, and even architectural engineers, the reconstruction of the city of Fradia was progressing steadily.

New building materials are supposed to be transported from Cilentium, but in addition to diverting supplies for urban improvement projects that Tarpeius had prepared, what is available around Fradia in timber and stone was felled by Northern Legion soldiers, dug up and transported to Fradia.

Citizens who had suffered arson worries by Danford and had lost their homes and were on the way were frightened by the new army entering the city, but their dark eyes gradually began to turn to bright ones.

A powerful Northern Legion soldier continuously brought timber and stone into the city, and for the first time watched with dismay as the dark-eyed, dark-haired little Imperial man seen up close immediately built beautiful houses and collective houses, watching as the Imperial technicians worked carefully to turn the streets into cobblestones and rebuild destroyed pharmacies and learning centers.

At first, the people of Cliffonam, dressed in silver armor that they had never seen before and creeped away from the soldiers of the Silentium Army, who continued to work in uninterrupted distress, gradually began to help with the task and chat when they saw them offer the fruits of their labor at all costs while wiping a refreshing sweat.

Sometimes money was beginning to penetrate, and more people talked through the buying and selling of things, and calm and lively cultural exchanges began to move forward.

In addition, the Northern Legion soldiers will carry out their replacement as a priority from those injured or with family members, in turn replacing them with soldiers of auxiliary legions braided in Cilentium and carrying out their leave.

The returning soldiers procured souvenirs and necessary supplies in Fradia, the newly arrived soldiers deepened their interaction with the citizens through the purchase of consumables and construction work, and Fradia began to flourish in economic activities by the Northern Legion soldiers.

Although the battle delayed a little, the winter wheat was made at the hands of the peasants, and Fradia regained her normal appearance.

Two weeks after Danford escaped, Fredia Castle, between the King

"Really, so much sacrifice..."

Hal's face darkens after receiving a report from Bergan about the damage to the fire.

It took two weeks for the damage to become apparent.

On the outside, it was a fladia that regained normal time, but the damage and human damage in downtown was enormous, and it could easily be expected that reconstruction would require considerable costs and time.

But reconstruction must be fulfilled.

"It's very painful to strain Cilentium right now… but Fradia can't stand not to be assisted"

Bergan either blames himself for the Fradia defect or asks for assistance with a truly bitter face.

"I ask Mr. Adamantius' 22nd legion to stay like this and do their best to rebuild Fradia. Again, Tarpeius' ongoing urban improvement project will continue in parallel, and supplies will arrive from Cilentium, so it's not that difficult except it needs time."

When Hal rang to comfort him, Bergan continued his words with a silent nod.

"Thank you. And then, one after the other, the messengers are starting to come from the tribes of the North, so we have to ask them to deal with it."

Bergan is right that the northern tribes of Cliffonam, who learned of its victory by the destruction of the Halemians, are sending messengers to Hull in Fredia in succession.

The Possi and Sedenia, devastated by the Halemians, are already undergoing reconstruction in the form of a half-silentium domination.

As for the other tribes, some tribes sent warriors to the battlefield directly to find out the whole battle, while others saw the corpses of the Halemians who had been flushed into the Ereil River and were spared their fatigues, all varied but fearless of the strength of the Silentium army, and expressed their willingness to join the Alliance in view of their interests in entering the refuge.

Until then, the influence of the victory on the banks of the Ineon River had also been felt by the Fried Danfords, who had been skeptical of Cilentium, and the warrior chiefs and nobles who had stood up had visited Fradia in one half surrender after another, combined with the fact that Danford had fallen south and that they had been kicked in by the Halemians.

Likewise, it goes without saying that every tribe of the Orans was struck by the dizzying number of the bodies of the Halemians who came down the Ereil.

The move to join the Cilentium Alliance has intensified once and for all in each tribe of the Orans in the Ereil River Basin in this victory, accompanied by an increase in the luck of the Orans' total participation, which has been around for a long time.

The Cilentium was recognized by each tribe as a force equipped with as much military force as it could to eliminate the greatest threat of the Halemians plaguing the northern border.

Only an overwhelming victory over the Halemians had spread to the northern periphery, sparing the faults in Fradia and the unexpectedly discovered weaknesses of the Northern Legion soldiers.

"Don't be afraid to take in the tribes of Oran and Cliffonam, both nominally and as allied tribes. The Danford faction of the Fried seems to have also disintegrated, and some tribes may join if you send a messenger here. Now let's see it as a better opportunity to put the North together than to think about the burden."

I had already sent a report on its contents to Sittius of Cilentium in a transmission stone communication, and I had received a reply from Sittius saying that I should do my best because I would do something about the costs and supplies and the human resources.

Bergan calls out to Hal, who was rereading the letter from Sittius.

"So far, the nearby Orans have received envoys from the Palais and Lakfes via Lord Randeljes to inquire about the terms of their alliance participation. Cliffonam has also received an emissary from the Cadonians to announce that each of the Fried Danford noblemen and warrior chiefs will be under the Fradia umbrella."

They are all tribes with forces in the Ereil River Basin that could have known as soon as possible the victory of Cilentium in the battle on the banks of the Ineon.

"In addition, the Salf tribes of the Cliffonams have offered assistance to the civil conflict from the pro-Silentium nobles."

"Civil strife?"

Hal questioned the ensuing Bergan words with a look of surprise.

"Yes, there seems to be civil strife involving armed clashes, with or without factional coordination due to participation in the Cilentium Alliance"

"Oh my..."

Adamantius surprised by Bergan's answer.

I was surprised to learn that each tribe was so nervous about whether to join the Silentium Alliance or not.

But it is an issue that could shape the fate of the tribe in the future.

I knew how painful it was for the tribal chiefs of the Salf tribe who had led to civil strife in Bergan.

"I'd like to avoid being actively involved in civil strife… maybe you can do a demonstration or so, and if civil strife subsides with that, it's something to make money from. Send Mr. Bergan and the 23rd Regiment to the vicinity of the Salf power zone as soon as possible. But never join civil strife."

"Understood."

The removal of the goodwill and the organization of the burning marks have progressed considerably, and it was thus decided that the 23rd Corps, which was unobstructed by the mission, would be dispatched to the land of the Salf tribe.

"What will the Lord Border Guardian do? Are we going back to Cilentium?

When Adamantius asked, Hal thought for a moment and opened his tease.

"We've come this far around the corner... so we can't afford to crusade the Flinks"

"... you have to put on a bully"

Bergan responded to Hal's words.

Hal continues his words with a sinister face.

"It is an indisputable fact that the Flinks gave Prince Danford aid. Unfortunately, it's not a defensive war, so we can't ask the Allied tribes for reinforcements, but as soon as Fradia's reconstruction reaches a certain level, we'll lead the 21st Regiment in a crusade."

It is a well-known fact that about half of the warriors led by Prince Danford were Flink Warriors, and that they have hidden Prince Danford until now.

It was besides the Flink tribe that gave Danford a handover that drew in the Halemians in the first place.

The Flink tribe, which cannot be said to be clear, continues to behave hostilely towards Cilentium.

And Danford's brother and sister are still hidden.

"But speaking of the Flink tribe, the brave and ringing tribe of Cliffonam. Is it going to be that easy? And there's anxiety in one legion."

As Adamantius fears, even King Alford once did so with his martial arts, and not so easily crusaded a tribe.

"Yeah, so we don't crusade all of a sudden. I would like to send a messenger urging you to surrender and invite internal division after boasting of this force."

"The battle for the annihilation of the Halemians is known, and the surrounding tribes may be overwhelmed."

Bergan expressed his approval.

Perhaps Flink's chief would be swayed by the question of trust in this defeat of Danford.

meritocracy in the seat of chiefs and chiefs of the Cliffonams is thorough, and those who fail are relentlessly forced to take turns.

There is no doubt that if the Cilentium side here moves from abandonment policy to a hard route, it can be further shaken.

"It depends on how the Flinks come out later, if you mean to resist, it's until you really deal with them too."

When Hal said that, he quietly lowered his back to the chair beside the throne.

At the same time, Imperial Palace and Emperor's Office

While browsing the ruling documents made of parchment, Emperor Magnus smiled bitterly at the glimpse of the young man who had entered the room accompanied by soldiers.

The young man prunes brown hair precisely short, and the nobleman wraps around the ever-used simple oval coat of the imperial citizen, which he will never wear.

Especially not a beautiful man, but mediocre in stature back length, but characteristic would be its glittering brown eyes.

When Emperor Magnus had signed the document he had, he placed his pen and showed the young man by hand to sit in the chair in front of him.

"To the Vice Emperor in charge of the East, Julianus, I will give you the Lord. Encourage me."

When Emperor Magnus told the young man in the chair so, he handed him the documents he had just signed.

Young man, what Julianus has in his hands is an emperor's power of attorney.

Only Julianus' name and one sentence of "Ordering the Vice Emperor” were mentioned in that writing.

This is a de facto Crown Prince appointment.

Magnus made Julianus his successor.

However, there is no certification ceremony or inauguration ceremony that should have been conducted in the Senate.

Naturally, it is because we know that support cannot be obtained.

Magnus' exercise of authority, which can be called an earliest ploy or ploy.

"Is that all?

"That's all."

In front of Emperor Magnus, who signs another ruling document through his eyes while answering, Julianus throws questions and words one after the other in a mild manner.

"What about the officials and soldiers you're going to lead?

"Whatever you want… but nothing"

"... you're gonna take your sister or your sister and stick with the border guard?

"That would be good too"

"... at the instigation of the Border Guard officer. Is it insurgency or something in the north?

"Well, that would be a way to do it."

"So, what's your real aim?

As if he was tired of the word multiplication, to Julianus, who turns the light atmosphere until then into a jest, Emperor Magnus smiles bitterly and stops signing hands.

And he spoke in a heavy voice after tightening his face once.

"Soon enough, you know the Empire will be at war in the South, right? The Southern invasion itself is not a bad measure, it's just a way to do it."

"What are you trying to say?

The Magnus Emperor took over the words while controlling Julianus, who did not see the intent of the story and questioned him in surprise.

"... Sirukha's movements are suspicious. Siluha is established and shallow, but don't insult him with a cheerful group of merchants, oh a country that you can't see. They may break through the thin eastern border while the Imperial Army is heading right and left across the Southern continent. Then we won't be on a southern expedition, will we?

………

Eurianus to be extinguished.

Emperor Magnus goes on to say more as he sees how it goes.

"I tried to tell the army about this, but it was futile, well, I didn't expect to hear it from the beginning, but I was reminded once again what my position as emperor was."

"Just kidding...... damn"

Holding his fist and watching as he liked the roaring Julianus, Emperor Magnus resumed signing the paperwork and opened his mouth again.

"Hehe, well, as the Lord knows, now the Emperor has no power"

………

Leave Julianus, once again out of his sentence, and Emperor Magnus continues to speak in a pale manner.

"I'm dying, too. Life expectancy will run out soon, and it's suspicious if we can see the Southern invasion. What worries me is that after I die, your Lord is too young, citizens and civilians alike, too distant from factions, and therefore not supported by the powerful. I don't have a son, and I've tried to account for his father, including his nephews and grandsons, but no one can successfully manipulate the empire knowing the current state of affairs. Perhaps they fail without factions, and the end of their journey is a battle for succession to the throne between those held back by factions, civil strife."

"I don't have a back shield, like I said, I can't keep civil unrest down where this happened... Jizz, what are you up to?

Magnus replied with a smile as Julianus asked flickering letters of appointment.

"It's settled, your lord gave it to your advantage in civil strife."

"... I know that"

Emperor Magnus flashed in the voice of Julianus, crossed by anger and renunciation, shaking his neck left and right.

"I know your Lord has allies everywhere. You've made quite a connection, take another breath. I just gave you the letter of appointment, so you're free to go."

"Jitter......... how do you know?

"For those whom the Lord had laid eyes on, I had laid eyes on them too."

………

Magnus laughs at Julianus, who is surprised but silent.

"Friends are irrelevant, take care of yourself all your life."

"... because I betrayed you?

Magnus answered slowly, not even moving to Julianus with a sharp tone.

"Well... I've betrayed my best friend. Even the lashes kept cursing him. The explanation for this is an incontrovertible fact... did you meet the ghost of Altrius?

"Oh, I still resent empires and emperors..."

"I guess so..."

Don't miss Magnus, who sighed much smaller, and Julianus carries on the words.

"There was a reason, wasn't there?

"The reason is, there was, but for a reason, what would it be? The fact that you've betrayed me can't be erased if you die."

"... talk to me"

Magnus opened his mouth even though the Lord would not listen.

"There were those who poked at the gap of the throne's succession and aimed at the emperor... a rebellion broke out in the north as I was running in the capital to contain the signs of civil strife. I had to stare at the nobles, and I was unable to move many soldiers who were not under my command. And it was Sir Lucilius' grandfather who tried to lead that civil unrest. The result was no civil unrest, but I lost an irreplaceable friend, and at the end of the day, my grudges were used by the barbarians and nobles, and I kept cursing him to tie him to the city so that he could not be directed at the Empire."

"Hey, hang tight... not really"

"There's no excuse for doing so much, but“ we need it to protect the Empire. "That's what I thought then.

Magnus stopped signing again, put the pen down and hung it deep back in the chair to look at Julianus.

"It's just regret now that we're about to have a civil unrest or a mutiny, and I don't like whether that or this was in vain... I wonder what I got until I lost my friend... If there is hope now, it will be the talent of the Lord and the Northern Border Guardian, but it is still sweet. Would you have seen the prosperity of the North with its eyes, and figured out what was in the North and not in the Empire? And vice versa."

"Okay."

Magnus said with a loose grin at Julianus, who replied uncommonly and honestly.

"Perhaps this will be the last, master. You'll be entrusted with everything you need to know, but, well, thank you."

The Magnus emperor overlaps his words as he returns his heels to withdraw from the appointment letter in his hand.

"Okay?

"Shut up, I get it... there's nothing else?

"Uhm... I guess... if you see Altrius, ask him to give me a message"

"... what?

"I thought I'd see you again."

I don't see Magnus' face on Julianus with his back turned.

but sure, i heard the sound of a clothes rub wiping my tears then.

"... don't die easy, twitch"

Julianus left the room in rough footsteps the last time he said so.
