American Fame and Fortune

Chapter 47: opponent

 Chapter 47 Opponent

Early on Monday morning, Gray Company was extremely busy. They rented out the entire first-floor crew and had to interview many actors for small roles today.

The crew came to Atlanta one after another, but until producer Steve Golin came, Louise Meyer had the final say here.

Director Michel Gondry is a Frenchman with average qualifications and achievements, and is closer to the director of filming on the set.

After the morning meeting, Louise reminded the casting director: "Pay close attention to the actor I mentioned."

“I understand.” Richard was not a newbie and understood what was going on.

The crew has hired staff in Atlanta and will also recruit a group of actors for small roles, which can save a lot of labor expenses.

Richard quickly went to the audition room. As soon as he turned the corner of the corridor, Linn, who was temporarily hired from Gray Company, came over: "Director Richard."

The other person is also a casting director at Gray Company. Richard gave him some face: "Is something wrong?"

Lynn mentioned an actor he discovered and collaborated with many times: "What we talked about a few days ago, Adam Smith, please pay more attention to it."

Richard nodded and then held a meeting with his assistants.

When looking through the resume brought by his assistant, he discovered one thing. Adam Smith and Martin Davis auditioned for the same role.

Richard didn’t think about it at all and put Adam Smith’s resume at the end.

At the same time, Martin came to Gray Company, met Jerome at the door, and called Louise's assistant. Someone soon came over and took Jerome to discuss the large-scale use of extras.

Robert came in from the door with his big head on his head at this time. He saw Martin at a glance and came over quickly: "Are you coming to audition too?"

Martin asked: “Which role did you audition for?”

The two of them walked inside, and Robert said as they walked: "It's a marginal role with only two lines. I never dream of having one line."

Martin said: "Don't worry, we are not the same character."

 Robert asked: "Main character?"

 Martin said: "Unless you help."

Robert touched his big head: "Man, that was really an accident!"

Martin said casually: "I believe you."

When we arrived near the audition room, there were too many people. One row of benches was simply not enough. Many people were standing.

The door of an office next to him opened. Andrew came out with documents. He happened to see Martin. Seeing him standing, he hurriedly greeted: "Jenny, quickly, bring out a chair. No, two."

The freckle-faced female assistant dragged over two chairs. Andrew took one and dragged it to Martin: "Sit down."

Martin quickly took the chair and said politely as before: "Thank you."

“We are friends.” Andrew lowered his voice: “Thank you for the news you told me last time. I became the first male in the company to use a kettle. My boss praised me in public and recommended me to study in this crew.”

Martin said nice words as soon as he opened his mouth: "This is about to be promoted, congratulations."

Andrew laughed: "Actually, as before, we need a casting assistant who is familiar with Atlanta to help select extras. I mainly interact with Jerome."

Martin said: "With a resume of a $20 million crew, I will be a real casting director when I go back."

“I hope so.” Andrew was about to leave.

Martin and Robert had just sat down when someone next to them was dissatisfied: "Why don't we have seats?"

Andrew’s smiling face instantly turned extremely serious: “You can walk if you don’t want to stand.”

Other audition actors who wanted to speak shut up.

Andrew held up the document: "I still have something to do."

Martin said: "Go and do your work."

On the bench against the wall not far away, Adam Smith has been observing this side.

Companion Ward asked: "The one with Ma Zhen?"

Adam Smith asked: "Is he so famous?" "Ma Zhen!" Ward's expression was slightly exaggerated: "I heard that many women in high-end clubs are asking who he is and want to spend a lot of money to ride with him on a horse. Let’s have a game.”

“That idiot Kyle, this scene was originally his.” Adam Smith muttered, a little worried: “At this time, he is auditioning for the same role as me?”

“You are the leading actor in many plays of Gray Company, and you were recommended by director Lynn.” Ward’s voice was also low: “What can he compare with you?”

Adam Smith said: "He has an unusual relationship with Kelly Gray. You saw Andrew trying to please him."

Ward reminded: "Didn't Lynn say that your information comes first? In this kind of large-scale audition for small roles, the first thing..."

The audition room opened at this time, and the corridor immediately became quiet.

Adam Smith tidied his clothes and made preparations in advance.

A middle-aged female assistant came out and called: "Martin Davis."

Ward was surprised.

 Everyone looked at Martin.

Robert raised his fist: "Come on, man!"

Martin gave him a fist bump and strode into the audition room.

There is of course no red sofa for this kind of audition. With the development of Hollywood, the so-called red sofa has long been withdrawn from the audition room.

If you really want to talk about the role in private, a hotel room or something like that would be more suitable.

Even though the audition was a formality, Martin still gave a 100% performance.

A very simple performance with a few lines.

It is not difficult for him.

Adam Smith watched Martin go in and out, smiling and talking to the big head, not in a good mood.

The second person who entered the audition room was not him, the third person was still not him, the fourth and fifth person were still not him...

This is a Hollywood crew. The real opportunity to get in touch with Hollywood is right in front of you, but too far away to reach.

When it was Adam Smith's turn, his psychological gap caused him to perform less than ideally. Just looking at the expressions of the casting director and assistant, he knew that he would definitely have no chance.

Ward saw Adam Smith coming out and asked, "How is it?"

Adam Smith shook his head: "Let's go."

Leaving Gray Company, Adam Smith called Lynn.

Soon, Linn called back: "It was decided just after the audition, Martin Davis." He added: "You come back in the afternoon, there is a small role with less scenes, and I will help you again. Fight for it.”

Adam Smith put away his phone and said, "Ward, you know a lot of people in Atlanta, help me get to know Martin Davis."

Ward was confused: "It's just a small role."

“It’s not just this character.” Adam Smith is really worried about other aspects: “This crew works closely with Gray Company, you understand? I may not be as good as Martin Davis here at Gray Company.”

Gray's late-night drama is his base. He can't go to Hollywood, but he is still doing well in Atlanta.

If the basic base is gone, life now will be in vain.

Car installments, houses bought with loans, daily life of using credit cards, etc. will all be seriously affected.

Adam Smith said: "Lynn revealed that Director Benjamin was writing a new play for Gray Company. I thought I had to be the leading actor, but now it seems a bit ominous."

Ward understood: "The threat has just appeared, so we should press it down?"

Adam Smith nodded: "I at least need to know who my potential opponents are. If I don't even know who my opponents are, I will be pushed out if I am confused."
