Chapter 38: Appearance patent

Chapter 38 Appearance Patent

Find a place to buy a few newspapers, checked the relevant information columns, made a few calls, and determined that one of the law firms could provide professional services, and immediately came to his door.

The person who received Martin was Gary Hodgson, a patent lawyer who started out as a patent agent.

Hodgson first stated the charging standards for patent consulting.

Martin didn’t go into too much detail and went straight to the point: “I have a product and I want to apply for a design patent, but how do I describe the shape of the product?”

Hodgson simply reminded: "It must be an industrial product, and it must be a novel, original and decorative design."

Martin asks: “What about the appearance of reality?”

Hodgson asked: "Have you brought the product or drawings?"

Martin shook his head and thought for a moment: "For example, the appearance of the product is based on my brother..."

Hodgson opened his mouth slightly and looked at this weird thing blankly, thinking to himself, are you kidding me? He reminded again: "Mr. Davis, we are discussing very serious patent issues."

Martin said seriously: "I am very serious!"

Hodgson thought for a moment and said: "It is impossible to pass because it is not original and novel enough..."

The more I say it, the more weird it becomes. Where does this come from? Hodgson's professionalism allowed him to resist the urge to swear. He clenched his fists and shook his fists: "Just like this, it is common in real life and people have formed a consensus on items. It is impossible to get a design patent."

This is not quite what Martin imagined.

Hodgson continued: "If you have to do it, it's just a waste of time and money."

Martin understood another meaning: "Is patent application time-consuming and labor-intensive?"

Hodgson said: “It takes an average of 19 months from submission of application to approval for appearance patents, and 24 months on average for invention patents.”

"Thank you, lawyer." Martin asked Hodgson for a business card, paid the consulting fee, and left the firm.

Back in the car, Martin held the steering wheel but did not start the car.

It is normal for there to be discrepancies between assumptions and reality.

In this case, some adjustments need to be made based on reality.

Martin drove to Duluth, a satellite city of Atlanta, where a number of import and export trading companies are concentrated.

They not only do import and export, but also accept customization of small commodities.

Martin originally thought about the cheap ones made in Yiwu, but after asking several Chinese companies, the transportation alone would take a month, so he finally chose a local trading company.

Having contacted more than a dozen companies on the spot, Martin circled a few and asked for their contact information.

Then rushed to the ATL free meeting.

Having made an appointment with Kelly Gray, Martin came to the hall where the last press conference was held. Martin spoke to the front desk staff and went up to the third floor.

It was quite busy with members of the Free Association coming in and out.

Martin entered the office and Kelly Gray was signing documents: "Wait a moment."

“You go ahead.” Martin sat on the sofa in the reception area and picked up a newspaper.

The Atlanta Free Press, the most famous liberal media in Georgia.

The report on the third page of the newspaper mentioned Milton, whom Martin had previously paid attention to, and described Milton as worthless.

Martin found the reason from the Constitution on the same day. Milton claimed that the Methodist Church was actively carrying out skills training to help women find employment, and complained that the Free Church only talked about it and did not do practical things at all.

Kelly Gray finished processing the documents, came to the reception area, and handed a document bag to Martin: "The formalities have been completed. Starting from this week, you will also serve as the social investigator of the Free Association."

She added emphatically: "With a salary, $200 a week."

"Thank you, Kelly, this can make me have more money." Martin knew what Kelly cared about, and he saw and sold now: "I came here today, and there is one more thing. We talked about it last time, Milton from the Methodist Church He's attacking us again, and I'm going to fight back against him."

To make a gun, you must have the consciousness to make a gun, not to mention that he has other ideas. Several directors of the Free Association had focused on Milton, and Kelly was very concerned about it: "Talk about it."

Martin said: "All I can think of are stupid ways. The club has been very angry from top to bottom recently. I persuaded the boss and mobilized the people in the club to protest against the Methodist Church, with the target being Milton."

He took the initiative to put the gun into Kelly's hand. Of course Kelly had to hold it tightly and thought for a moment: "Okay."

After several contacts between the two, Martin learned specifically about the situation of Kelly Gray and the Liberty Association: "These days, I have been thinking about it over and over again, and I have thought of some, but I am not sure if it is useful."

Kelly Gray laughed: "Don't worry, I won't laugh at you."

“I’ve said it first, don’t laugh.” Martin expressed his thoughts in an appropriate way.

Kelly Gray thought it was funny at first, like a low-level gangster playing rogue, but after hearing it, she became serious.

She stared at Martin closely: "What do you think? What do you want?"

Martin scratched his head, as if it was difficult to speak. He hesitated for a moment before saying: "I'm not afraid of your jokes. I'm afraid of being poor. I want... to make money."

He tried his best to use the surrounding social environment: "The night before yesterday, a serious shooting occurred in the Clayton community. Five people were killed. The crime scene was only 100 meters away from my residence. When I got off work in the evening, I saw two fellow students with my own eyes. The dealers in the community were shotgunned into a hornet’s nest.”

Kelly nodded: "I saw the news, please be more careful."

“I bought a long gun for self-defense, but that’s not an option.” Martin pursed his lips, paused for a moment, and sighed: “I’m still young and don’t want to die in a smelly ditch. I want to move to a safer community.”

Kelly Guerre was slightly sympathetic, but after thinking about it, she found that what Martin said was too involved.

She is the one who is worried now: "Martin, you have given me a difficult problem."

The path Kelly Gray chose was actually a social ladder. Her family’s limited resources were all invested in her two brothers.

Now the ATL Free Association has a vacant position as vice chairman, and she is eyeing this position.

Martin guessed her concerns and said at the right time: "Kelly, you don't need to get involved in these low-end things. I will lead people to do it. If anything goes wrong, it is all the responsibility of the House of Beasts. If public opinion arises, you can gently push A handful. No need to do anything.”

Kelly Gray stood up, took a few steps back and forth, and made up her mind: "Remember, don't cause personal harm."

"We are all civilized people in the club, such as me and Lao Bu." Martin told the truth, and asked tentatively: "Kelly, you know, we are all poor people, and the boss is stingy. Mostly moral support.”

Kelly went to the desk, took out a form, and handed it to Martin: "You fill it out. There is an application process for public gatherings. I will ask Ella to help you with the procedures. There will be special event funds for Freedom, so getting support is not a problem. ”

Martin is even more motivated: “Brothers don’t have to go out to work part-time during the day and can continue to protest.”

Kelly said: "Make it louder."

Martin has no problem recruiting people: “If we provide free food, I can find another hundred people.”

 Kelly nodded: "Okay."

Martin completed the form and followed Ella to several offices. Through the channels of the Free Association, the assembly permit was quickly approved.

Kelly was not free at noon, so Martin simply invited Ella to lunch and called Andrew specifically.

During the conversation, we talked about the crew coming from Hollywood. Andrew and Benjamin are currently making preparations. A production team from the project will come over soon to arrange the crew's arrival in Atlanta.

That female producer from the LA Free Club is coming.

 Martin counted the time.

In the afternoon, Martin called Bruce and Hart to drive a car each to pick up rally materials from the Free Association.

The Free Association holds rallies all year round, and related items are readily available. Martin requested materials related to the House of Beasts, and they were able to find a partner to custom-make them.

 Just wait a day.

Martin went back to get some samples first.
