Alien Knights

Chapter 357: All Debuts

On the evening of the banquet at the Holy Acropolis, Todd stood at the door of the church, looked at the staggeringly luxurious carriage in front of him, turned his head to Tristan and asked, "This is the carriage that took us to the banquet? Could it be...too ostentatious?"

Tristan straightened his robes and honors, got into the carriage without looking back, and left a sentence: "This is already the most low-key carriage of His Majesty Matide."

Todd choked for a moment, and followed into the carriage.

The interior of the vehicle has velvet upholstery, a pull-out ice bucket, and even a rollaway bed that can sleep three people.

Looking at all this in front of him, Todd thought bitterly, he can be regarded as the lord of a country, but compared with this guy, he can only be regarded as an idiot who doesn't know how to enjoy himself.

Looking at the receding scenery outside the window, Tristan said to himself: "His Royal Highness Sinclair and His Royal Highness Matide, apart from their somewhat similar appearances, have great differences in character and philosophy. His Royal Highness Sinclair inherited his father's personality. He actively communicated with the nobles and generals in the country, and at the same time tried to get the Holy Acropolis out of the influence of the church..."

Todd sighed inaudibly, and whispered in his heart, if you learned about Sinclair's slave trade with the Pope, I don't know if you would think so.

"As for the second prince of the Holy Acropolis, His Majesty Matide...he is a...a person who knows how to enjoy himself." Tristan spoke repeatedly: "He knows when the red wine is the best wine, he knows how to cook the most delicious roven fish, he knows every beautiful dance on the mainland...but he has no interest in the governance of the country."

Todd gave Tristan a sideways look: "It sounds like you value His Highness Sinclair more than His Highness Mathilde supported by the Church?"

The latter said noncommittally: "What the church needs is a puppet that is easy to control, not a maverick ruler."

Todd was silent for a moment, then changed the subject: "Tell me about the mission in Muxi City?"

"Embassy of Muxi City? What do you want to know?"

"I heard that Twilight City publicly supports His Royal Highness Sinclair?"

Tristan gently opened the curtain of the carriage: "It's not a simple support. The Muxi City mission must let His Highness Sinclair take the throne, otherwise the Holy Acropolis will become a barrier to curb the development of Muxi City."

"Those two Highnesses, who is more likely to win now?"

"It's hard to say, one person has the support of the nobles, the other has the support of the church, and both have a chance of winning." Tristan stretched out his hand, grabbed the armrest of the carriage, and said to Todd: "Hurry up, we are going to pass the Plaza of Honor..."

"Plaza of Honor?" Before Todd could react, the carriage suddenly bumped up and down because of the uneven road.

Stretching his head out of the window, Todd glanced out of the carriage, and the scene in front of him made him gasp.

Dozens of wooden crosses were erected on the endless square, and charred corpses were scattered everywhere, and the wheels of the carriage rolled over the charred corpses, making crackling and cracking sounds.

Todd retracted his body and asked Tristan in surprise, "Where is...?"

"This is the Plaza of Honor where the church used to carry out the execution of the fire." Tristan lowered the curtain: "At the craziest time, hundreds of people could be burned to death here in one night. There were too many charred corpses, and most of them stuck to the ground; coupled with the shortage of food and supplies, there was no way to hire people to deal with these wreckage, causing the Plaza of Honor to gradually become a pile of corpses."

"All the people burned to death here are alien species?!"

Tristan sneered and said, "Where are so many alien species being burned? Those who are dissatisfied with the church, those who support His Highness Sinclair, and those who tried to escape from the Holy Acropolis... were all sent to the stake."

Hearing this, Todd looked again at the "black earth" under the afterglow of the setting sun, lowered the curtain of the carriage, and sighed heavily.

The carriage traveled for a full hour, and arrived at the banquet hall of the palace when it was completely dark.

Walking into the hall, seeing the dazzling array of food on the table, and seeing the "red wine fountain" made of marble in the center of the front hall, Todd finally understood the "banquet event" that Tristan mentioned earlier.

"The food here is enough to feed hundreds of families." Tristan said, looking at Todd with a serious face.

Todd shook his head and walked towards the main hall of the banquet. Along with the melodious music, he saw a group of nobles surrounding a couple of dancing men and women.

The man had a handsome appearance and was wearing a gorgeous court dress; the "woman" Todd knew him, she was the head of the Muxi City Mission - Knight Dieng.

Dion was wearing a pleated corset dress with a cold face. Looking at the other person's expression, it was like looking at an ugly toad.

"The one who is dancing is His Royal Highness Matide..."

Tristan's words surprised Todd.

How could the two of them run together?

On the dance floor, Matide hugged Dion's back, and frivolously brushed his fingers against Dion's skin, in exchange for a heavy step.

"Sorry, Your Highness, my footsteps are unsteady." Dion said politely, but Meimu gave him a hard look.

Mathilde stood up straight, as if nothing had happened: "It's okay, it's okay! Speaking of which, did you receive the flowers I sent you?"

"Flowers?" Dieng turned around with the other party's dance steps, and said calmly, "I'm feeding them to the horses."

A smile uglier than crying suddenly appeared on Mathilde's face.

Dion glanced at the surrounding guests vigilantly, and put his mouth close to Matide's ear: "What about what you promised me?"

Matide groaned in a low voice with enjoyment, as if he didn't hear the other party's question at all.

Dion stomped on Matide's instep again, and said fiercely, "Sorry, Your Highness, I made a wrong step again!"

Mathilde pursed his lips and said softly: "Isn't what you want is the list of nobles who support my brother? I can give it to you at any time."

At the end of the song, Dion took a step back, got out of Matide's arms, bowed lightly to the latter who was still unsatisfied, and returned to the position of the mission.

Todd, who was standing in the distance, looked towards the direction of the Muxi City mission. Dion sat next to Mary in a full dress. The former was petite and lovely, while the latter was beautiful and moving. The two beauties with completely different temperaments, overwhelmingly gorgeous, immediately became the focus of the entire ball.

Tristan tugged on La Todd's cuff: "If you want to meet the mission now, that's definitely not a good idea. Compared to that, there's someone you should meet first."

Under the guidance of Tristan, Todd came to the church seat and stood in front of a middle-aged man with the appearance of a falcon. The teaching robe on the other party made him realize the identity of this middle-aged man.

"Master Jacob, may the light of the Lord illuminate the way forward for you and me."

Looking at the face in front of him, Jacob was extremely surprised for a moment: "Felicchild, why are you here?!"

Recalling Felicity's memory fragments, Todd put on the former's signature smile and said vaguely: "There are some difficult things, the Pope asked me to deal with them as soon as possible..."

Jacob stayed for a while, then nodded slightly and said, "The Pope is the most important thing."

Later, he looked at Tristan with disgust, and said to Todd: "My manpower, you can use it as much as you like."

Todd nodded his thanks and left everyone.

He first came to a dark corner and looked at Dion and Mary who were surrounded by people at the banquet, knowing that this was not a good time to come forward and talk.

Just as he was about to lift his foot to leave, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a young man who had repeatedly appeared in Felicchild's memory.

This young man is tall, with a resolute expression, a well-groomed beard, and a warm smile when he looks at people.

This is His Royal Highness Sinclair, there should be no mistake.

Sinclair, who had a keen sense, quickly noticed Todd's gaze.

The eyes of the two met in the air.

A trace of surprise flashed in Sinclair's eyes, and he quickly looked away, pretending that nothing happened.

While talking and laughing happily with the nobleman beside him, he touched the back of the right ear with his hand.

Todd recalled the memory he had spied on from Felicchild, and immediately understood that the other party was asking him to go to the old place for a secret talk.

Turning around and leaving the banquet hall, Todd stepped into the bush path outside the hall and came to the back of a lion statue, relying on the vague memory he got when his soul invaded.

After waiting for about ten minutes, a deep voice sounded from the side.

"You came back earlier than expected."

Todd looked at the black figure beside the stone statue, and said softly, "Something happened in Gubu Port."

"An accident?"

Todd lowered his voice: "The southern barbarians rebelled, the ancient city was captured, and tens of thousands of slaves were released..."

The black shadow came out from behind the stone statue, his voice sounded anxious: "The money that belongs to me..."

The face of His Royal Highness Sinclair appeared in front of Todd, causing the latter to shake his head helplessly.

"Don't worry, all the goods have been sold." Todd took out a silver moon from his arms and threw it up and down like Felicchild: "I hid the money in a safe place, but the ship was snatched by the barbarians."

Sinclair's eyes were sharp: "The ancient city has been breached and the ship is gone. So what should we do with the next business?"
