Alien Knights

Chapter 322: Time to Fight

Carrying experimental equipment and samples of abilities, Todd rode Henry the Griffin and flew for two full days and one night, and finally arrived at the sky above the Froststone Tribe.

Looking down from a high altitude, the ruins of the original ruins have been basically cleaned up. All kinds of people are busy in the camp, clearing the snow and building wooden houses.

The sound of the griffin flapping its wings attracted people's attention. The sharp-eyed man looked towards the northern sky and shouted loudly: "The leader is back!"

Todd, who changed into Boyle's appearance, directed Henry to slowly descend to the ground, and the wooden box under the griffin's claws was also gently lowered.

Turning over and jumping off Henry's back, Todd looked at the clansmen gathered around him, and gestured to them with a nod and a smile. Among these people are the gladiators who fought side by side with him, the clansmen he rescued from prison, and many strangers he doesn't know. But out of the corner of his eye, he still unconsciously aimed at the chic small building that had just been built in the camp.

"Boss!"

Ackerman, who was counting the stored food in the camp, was the first to run over due to the short distance.

Todd looked at the young man in his early twenties, with frostbite on the back of his hand, but with a happy smile on his face, nodded and said, "How's the camp?"

Looking around the crowd, Ackerman came to Todd's side and whispered, "Boss, we need to find a quiet place."

Todd glanced at the small building not far away again, suppressed the thoughts in his heart, nodded to Ackerman and said: "Call the people in charge, I want to understand the current situation. By the way! This wooden box contains extremely important equipment, transported to a safe place, and then asked someone to take care of it."

Ten minutes later, the hall of the tribal longhouse.

Ackerman, Casper, and Minnie sat by the firepit, and the three quietly waited for the leader to speak.

Todd just heard two pieces of news from them: the first piece of news is that the barbarian veteran Fried took his tribe and went to the south to transport weapons and armor in person; as for the other piece, it might be bad news for the camp.

Sitting cross-legged on the top of the longhouse, Todd touched his chin and said, "Sixty-nine people left?"

Ackerman and Casper looked at each other, and the former said: "During your absence, boss, many people... have left here. Some of them are gladiators who miss their loved ones, and some of them are civilians who heard that the army is coming."

Seeing Todd groaning, Casper slapped his thigh hard, and said dully: "These people don't know the situation at all, all the roads are blocked by heavy snow, and the army is still hunting for fish that slipped through the net, leaving the camp at this time is only a dead end.

Old shaman Minnie seemed to be saying to himself: "We need to restore people's confidence."

Todd closed his eyes, thought for a while, and said, "In the camp, is there anything else going on besides people leaving?"

Ackerman said with a serious expression: "According to the knight's investigation results, the Ulster scouts are becoming more and more frequent. They may not wait for the spring to attack here."

Casper went on to say: "There is only one arrow tower built in the camp, and the surrounding wooden walls are only 200 meters long. The defense facilities are too weak."

Todd asked, "How many troops can we use?"

Casper thought for a while, and gave a vague number: "About four hundred people."

Todd was a little surprised: "Only four hundred people?"

"Including the twenty-eight knights, more than two hundred gladiators, and about one hundred tribal warriors." After reporting these numbers, Ackerman paused, and added: "The severe cold outdoors, harsh living quarters, and heavy labor have made many people sick. Moreover, the weapons and armor we use to arm the soldiers are seriously insufficient..."

Hearing this, Todd frowned and asked, "Why hasn't the equipment from Fort Watch arrived at the camp yet?"

"Starting from the camp, it's more than 400 kilometers to the south, and most of the journey is winding mountain roads. Even if we organize dozens of sleigh rides, it will take at least more than a month to go back and forth, and it is still under the premise of good weather."

Todd calculated the time. When the weapons and armor arrived at the camp, they might not be able to keep up with the war with the Ulsters.

He reorganized the troops on hand. Most of Boyle's clansmen had not received systematic military training, so they might not be able to use them. Although the gladiators had excellent personal combat abilities, they couldn't organize an effective attack in front of the formed army, so they couldn't be the main force of the army.

After all the calculations, the only ones who could form combat power were Alfonso and the twenty-seven guard knights he led.

While Todd was still thinking about Alfonso and his troops, the deity returned from patrol walked into the tribal hall.

Alfonso looked at Todd on the seat, his eyes lit up, he took off the helmet on his head, walked quickly to the firepit, and said, "Your Majesty... Chief, you are back."

Todd looked at the snowflakes on the opponent's armor that he had not had time to brush off in the future, and said with a smile, "Sit down first."

Alfonso gave a knightly salute to Todd, then took off his sword and sat by the firepit.

Before the two could speak, the latter was surprised to find that the former was actually baking the metal armor with a torch burning in the firepit.

Todd opened his eyes and asked, "Alfonso, what are you doing?!"

Holding the torch in one hand, Alfonso brushed aside the parasite limbs on his face with the other hand, and replied: "Chief, I found a strange thing. Ever since I arrived in the northern border, the "keel" on my body has become extremely stiff, and sometimes it takes a lot of effort to move the joints. But as long as I heat it with fire, it will return to normal."

"Is there such a thing?" Todd stood up, walked to Alfonso's side, and carefully observed the keel parasite on the other party's body.

The limbs of the parasite drooped listlessly, and the important joints were as hard as ice, and felt like stones in a refrigerator.

Todd glanced at the heavy snow flying outside the door, and suddenly remembered something.

The keel itself can insulate high temperature and absorb flames, so it should be a parasite that likes a warm environment. But the Froststone tribe is in the middle of winter, and urinating outside the door can freeze into a popsicle, let alone the keel?

Alfonso reached out from the gap in the armor, pulled out a bunch of animal fur, and said to Todd: "We have thought of many ways, one of which is to put the fur between the armor and the keel, which can keep warm, but after staying outside for a long time, the keel will still become stiff."

Todd looked away and thought about it for a moment.

In the current situation, isn't it just right to use the tyrant to evolve the keel parasite? As long as the "frozen" bacteria in the ability library are used to upgrade and transform the keel, it can adapt to this low temperature environment. But this matter can be put aside for a while. Todd first plans to ask the enemy's movements: "Is there any movement from the Ulster people?"

"I took my men and went to inspect the entrance of the forest seven kilometers away from the camp." Alfonso used hard stones to draw a simple map on the ground of the longhouse: "The advance troops of the Ulsters have already started to build a camp on the plain at the edge of the forest. It seems that they are determined to launch an attack."

Casper looked at the map on the dirt, shook his head and said, "Launching an attack in such a cold winter does not meet the premise of a war."

Todd walked to the gate and looked at the snowflakes flying outside the window: "Things like war have always served politics."

Ackerman and Casper looked at each other, and they asked with puzzled faces, "Boss, what do you mean?"

Todd sighed. These people in the barbarian camp are still far behind Cumberland, Emerson and others in the Muxi Kingdom in terms of strategic vision.

"Think about it carefully. The king of Ulster first imprisoned the former crown prince and his son with unwarranted crimes; then he released war beasts in the arena, regardless of the life and death of the audience, and offended a large number of nobles in the city. Now he urgently needs a war to divert the attention of everyone in the country; use a victory to prove to everyone how tragic the end will be for those who betray and disobey him."

Listening to Todd's words, Ackerman understood a little: "So, Conchi Urb would rather ignore Connaught's threat, and deal with us first?"

Casper felt that something was wrong: "If you think about it from this angle, this war may be a war about the throne and power for Conchiuber. He must win the victory. Once he loses, what awaits him will only be overwhelming resistance in the country."

Todd stepped out of the door with one foot, turned back and said to everyone in the room: "Yes, we must be prepared, the enemy may come out in full force. Because of this war, Conchierb has no choice but to go all out."
